That is such a nice area around Ludington. We take the ferry across from Manitowoc, WI every year during the summer and stay there for a week. I'm looking to buy a fishing license and catch some of those beautiful bluegills on Hamlin this year!

I drove from Ypsilanti to have Captain Chuck's to do 6 reels upgraded drags & also several poles & cooper wire for trolling for Kings. Very happy with the quality they did.

Got a cabin on hamlin lakes south bayou . Love that place

drop67 How many years have you had the cabin on the south bayou? My grandfather had a place on the south bayou in the 1960's when the fishing was on fire. The sand dunes on the north end of Hamlin Lake have changed so much from back then. The sand dunes slid into the lake and are not nearly as tall or majestic as they once were! The top water Bassin in the south bayou was hot with a black jitterbug in the evenings on the north side of the bayou from the swampy area to about halfway out back in the day. We used to feed the bluegills every night from my grandfather's dock in the summer, and there were hundreds of them. Many a night, monster carp would also show up in the [50 -100] pound size. We had some great times on the south bayou of Hamlin Lake, all year round. Back then. I always missed that place after we moved out of Michigan, and my grandfather sold the place.
