Use a lapp knot with the draw string on pants. Very easy to use. Allows you to tighten up without getting loose and also can loosen very quickly. Makes changing camo quicker too. 😉

I have seen the russian special forces telegram videos behind enemy lines, I still have one of them downloaded somewhere. Their suits are just better than in the video. You won't see the mags or body armor popping out of their suits. They wear proper ghillie suits with all kinds of weapons, from VSS to machine guns and AKs all with suppressors in their squad. If they are prone or in a bush you won't see them.

I did an event in Pennsylvania more than a few years ago. The safety brief was across the street from where the play area was so some poor fucker in traffic just got stopped and like 450 dudes with rifles ,grenade, launchers, and rocket launchers just crossed the highway in front of them, but look on their face. With how the Russians wear it, the body armour goes under the suit with a detachable flat at the front making space for the mags allowing you to draw your mags, ie the suit is covering the clavicle down to the top of your mag. This is at least applicable to SOKL suits

Something we did with our leaf suits was stitch a square of hook velcro on the inside of the hood at the top so when you wear a helmet you can stick the hood down where you want it to prevent it from falling into your face when youre hitting the ground or crawling. Yowie suits from SORD go rly well too but thats more of a ghillie base

Been using a partial (upper hood/shoulders) to (bow) hunt elk in a specific unit I like to hunt due to the terrain and foliage. Works amazing. Not for every situation but here in the PNW we have a LOT of undergrowth on the north and west side of the mountains so leafy suits/Ghille suits are really effective.

Its horror to see those suits, cuz there many Videos out there of russian wearing EXACLY this behin ukrainian lines in Kursk or the southern Front, just laying there only to spray bullets into some ukr. Quad drivers or Ammotrucks and then investigating them in not even 2 minutes and then retreating back into the woods.

Northeast NATO recce guys rock very similar "bolero jackets" so I'm not sure that's purely an adversary thing :v It's an all around great idea imo, a direct stepup from the "leaves in helmet" concept, I'm honestly surprised it wasn't adopted en masse before for units which aren't manning trenches/urban areas (although it makes sense even there unless you're in the middle of a concrete plaza)

In Ukraine, we have our own company, Lapa Gear, that makes very similar leaf suits, and they are incredibly effective and comfortable for a ghillie-type of garment. In my limited experience dealing with RUS SOF, some of our comrades were able to successfully clack off several Claymores in a command detonation chain on an unsuspecting RUS SOF formation in the heavily forested borderlands of northern Ukraine. In the photos I saw, the RUS SOF were wearing leaf suits, but strangely, they did not wear any plate carriers, rather they were rocking chest rigs. To be fair, it was a terrible heat wave in the middle of the summer when this incident occurred, and the leaf suit alone will do a lot to heat up your core temperature during movements to a dangerous level. Cool video!

It's usually the same with all Ru SOF units, they don't wear platecarreirs in heavily wooded areas or mountains which dates back to Chechnya, can't afford armour on a many day long raid into the mountains where you have a heavy backpack filled with a bunch of different shit

BJO, we went down the BCS route for counter thermal. It isn’t as convincing to the leafs but does a pretty good job of counter thermal detection. I know that’s probably not a thing at the Milsim events.
