When Army Rangers LARP as Russian SOF

Today I’m joined by my friend Shawn Prosen, to discuss the kit we'll be running for our spicy Russian OPFOR adventures at MilSim West .
Over the years we’ve ran various types of kit while leading RUSFOR at MSW, with this being the latest iteration of an attempt to accurately portray a Russian SOF operator .
Running authentic kit is an important part of MilSim West to make things feel authentic, which is why pictures that come from our events are often mistaken for wartime photos (news agencies love MSW).

Hey, a guy from Donbass here. In summer, the temperature rises to 90-100 and even over 100 degrees Fahrenheit in those parts. 85-90 for the Kharkov and Kursk. Think of eastern Colorado, Kansas, Missouri, northern parts of West Virginia, northern California and Utah for the climate reference. It is funny to me that you are using a very similar gear to what I am using. Ars Arma, Ratnik Tactical and Wartech are the main brands for plate-carriers, belts, etc. Keep in mind: all of the gear the cool kids of the Russian military use are self-bought. Some guys use UF-PRO, Carinthia and Crye originals, while the majority of us are prefering the Russian-made alternatives that are functionally identical in terms of design. Multicam is a preferable camo. One more thing: we prefer to wear most of our ammo load on the belt. Goin towards boots: we like them as high as possible, 8"-10" is preferable. Preferable brands: Prabos, Lowa, Salomon, rarely Merrell. Spats and rubber boots are the trench staples. The boots that you are wearing in this video are considered short among us Russians.

The original year of СПЕКТР (SPEKTR) camo is 2010, the manufactor is СоюзСпецОснащение. Another variant for urban warfare is СПЕКТР- СКВО(SPEKTR-SKVO). But both are commercial, russian army are exploatetng the ЕМР (EMR) camo.

Вообще, говоря про ЕМР, она у разных производителей(и я сейчас не про варкек, сасарму и мордор, а про ГЗ) менялась со временем, а на момент 23го у техинкома светлее, у триады темнее, а у зюраткуля и вовсе желтоватая. ИСЧХ, все они с пятидесяти метров выглядят одинаково. Даже спектр и белорусская, у которых паттерн отличается.

Russian SOF generall hate the AK12 rifle, which is typically only used by Conscripts and the "new guys", and yes, its cool, yes the Arcturus AK-12, especially with the Perun Mosfet, is super good, super cool, the AK-105, AK-103/AK-104 (unit depending), and AK74M are far more accurate for true Russian SOF if you do really look. Good kits all around, I do hope to get my own Arcturus AK-12

About the body armor thing... I a now 29 year old never understood why to evernot wear it... Then I played Arma reforger and the 1980s flack vest which does not stop bullets just flak but your kevlar with gioggles helmet always will just slowed me down by X2... Litterly unexable for my commandoness... But IRL when that is not the case with nmodern armors as showcased in WW3 online then why not? Tghough again I've seen modern rangerss train in haiawwi with just belt rigs... Why a shock troop would ever not wear body armor is beyond me like even in WW1 shock troops had body armor because the shock troop role is so short when it comes to action... In the soveit civil war over in ukriane the amount of stuff in the air is a hard nope to wearing no armor... Would WW3 be differnt I think so... Whould you wear body armor against the US army fully outfitting with sig spears? The armor just wears you down then too.
