I got this TDS, EC, ppm Blue Lab TRUNV2 Truncheon off of amazon because it was the best ranked and best rated meter with an unbelieable 5 star rating. I was excited to use it in my series of nutrient tests featured on my channel but unfortunately, I needed something way more accurate. As seen in their description, this only starts reading at 120 ppm:
Measurement Range: 2 to 36 CF, 0.2 to 3.6 EC, 140 to 2520 ppm (EC x 700), 100 to 1800 ppm (EC x 500); General uses include gardening, hydroponics growing tent and reservoir
The meter is accurate, but when Im mixing ml's of nutrients per gallon, I want to know changes in ppm far below 100's which is impossible with this device. Its good if you're the type to put in EC's of 1-2, but if you seen my hydro grow series, I literally get away with EC levels of .5 throughout bloom so this meter is not my cup of tea. Its sturdy and serves as a great mixer and comes with a 5 year warranty so it may work for you.

Since I calculate and mix my fert myself, this is actually perfect for me! I only ever measure the finished nutrient solution... No reason to measure it before that point, since all the ingredient-levels are calculated and adjusted by the program, so all you need to do is adjust the overall strength, and everything changes proportionally. And like that, you can cover the .6 ec up to 1.6 or so (300-800ppm) easily with the truncheon... Nice! It's in the post... Edit: Since I have the commercial one that goes up to 6ec, I'll start experimenting with making nutrient solution concentrate, that could make the workflow EVEN easier...

Yeah but if you only need to add 30 mg if something it’s not ideal (magnesium or any trace)

I brought this Amazon ph pen and its garbage. I calibrated it as per instructions and it was so out of range when rechecking the nutrient solution with a bluelabs pH meter and a chemical testing kit that the nutrient solution I was testing was off the chart, like over 12ph or more. I rechecked, retested and it was giving random readings from 1ph to 9 ph...in the same solution!!! I could of killed my plants if I had trusted this. You pay what you get for. Wait, you never go over 200-300ppm? How is this possible? I veg around 400-500 and go up to 800 during flowering

Nah more like 350-400 when the water gets grubby if you balance it right, there’s no need to go over

I just got mine today (Blue LAb Truncheon) and think I'm gonna send it back (Amazon) Will not read lower than 200 PPM...like WTF? For the price it'd be nice to be able to use it from 0 to 3000 PPM.. SMH.. I have to rely on my cheap Vivoson EC meter to let me know when to switch out my RO membrane.

That's not at all, what this is for... This is a "second device", not a primary one... This is just a very useful tool for people working with nutrient solutions professionally, AND some of us, depending on application... This is basically to mix the solution WHILE giving you an organic understanding of how strong the solution is constantly and without messing around with a "normal" meter. But you still own such a normal meter for other applications, such as RO-water stuff and so on... Example: You come up to the Tank, dip it in and you know what to do, ie refill pure RO, refill nute solution or even refill concentrated nutes, and even how much to roughly hit the mark you're looking for, which is more than precise enough...
