THIS IS MY FAVOURITE THING! I love old school Anaglyph 3D , and this is by far the best tutorial on the process. everything else seems to just give they effect, giving the illusion of Anaglyph 3D. This one is practical and can actually be used! Thank you!

Hi Marty! I love your tutorials. I have learned so much from your clear, concise style. I hate to be "that guy," but 1950s American SF films are my absolute favorite genre, so I feel compelled to point out that "Creature from the Black Lagoon" does not have a "The" at the beginning. I know, I know. I'm being needlessly picky. But it's one of my favorite films of all time so I just had to say something. Thank you so much for helping us learn Photoshop!

Thank you so much. :-)

Hi there, nice tutorial you have! It's very helpful, but i am stuck on the painting over the mask of an object to make it blur(fade) into the other layer. What colours are you using with your pen and brushes to paint over the layer mask? I have tried with white, but this reveals the layer mask and when i paint with black the layer is darkened and instead of transperancy it becomes a dark spot. Maybe my blending mode is wrong.

I love this video! Very informative, indeed! I was wondering if a similar technique can be used in converting a video with 3D anlyphic effects? I used adobe premiere and made a left and right channel (red and blue channel). I then moved one channel to the left by 5 pixels and the other to the right by 5 pixels. I then used the "screen" blending mode and exported it. I used the red/cyan glasses and the 3d effect was minimal. Can you offer any advice? Thanks! Love your work!

For a video, the technique would need to be applied to each frame.

Looking for a simple way to make educational grammar worksheets using anaglyphs for use in the early primary grades. Just need it for the fonts not for pictures. We want to be able to make some of the letters of the words in the phrase stand out, to teach prefixes and suffixes when the kids wear their 3-D glasses (e.g. in the word "standing" just the "stand" would pop out as an anaglyph). Is there a tutorial or directions for doing this in Photoshop or any other software?

i believe he is talking about the new 3d technology, the one with multiple layers. layer 1 is the original image layer 2 is the original image only cut in a very specific way (not sure how to say it, so i'll demonstrate): ||||| layer 3 is the same as layer 2 only then horizontally cut wikipedia (dot) org/wiki/3D_film#Polarization_systems

This particular 3-D effect is called "anaglyphic". Looking at this image through red/green glasses gives an extremely effective 3-D illusion. Try it! Seeing is believing.
