So you are having issues and it isn't working like Marty says? Please go to 6:52 on his video and you may find your answer. See the "Highlight Mode" should be white! He does it, but he doesn't say it and that changes EVERYTHING:) So in review: Bevel & Emboss > Highlight Mode > Screen > to the right...make the color WHITE.

Yes. In the beginning, convert the original shapes into Smart Objects.

Yes. At 10:52, I explain how to convert the text and the design into a Smart Object. At the end of the tutorial, you can replace the text by double-clicking the thumbnail of the smart object to open its source. Replace the text and close its tab at the top. Your design is now update with your new text.
