For someone new to the sport the technical info on wings was great. It really brought home the intricacies of wing design. Great to see Ken. I remember him from back in the day windsurfing. I need to watch this again as there is so much info. I am glad I came across this interview. Thank you blueplanetsurf and Ken Winner.

This exactly the video I needed. I started winging with my dad (a lifelong windsurfer) last summer with your videos on a like with sub 10kt tops. After dad passed a couple months ago, I have been winging trying to carry on and stay connected through this experience. I've been on a SUP and recently trying to get up on foil. Still working at in and your message about thinking it's impossible, but trying anyway - struck a particular chord for me. I've tried every board and in every condition and it's getting me through this really hard time. I so appreciate you guys and for what it's worth, yes 💯 I believe this is the future.

Wow, that is inspiring, thank you for sharing. It’s amazing what you can learn if you are persistent enough. Don’t forget to have fun too and your dad will be smiling 🤙🏼

Not boring!!!! & the first interview EVER to really link the history from 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s with appropriate mention of all the influential iconic names along the way from someone who was there - what a great interview - I'm thankful & honored just to have seen it.

A great interview with master wing designer Ken Winner. So much great information about how wings work and how designers are striving to improve them. Great explanation of the tradeoffs in design between performance and ergonomics. Thanks Robert!

Its so great to watch an industry develop in such a short time frame ,a waterman myself in pretty much the same vintage’57 as Ken, with waveski and sup surfing hobie cat sailing disciplines and others,I’m currently healing old knee problems and over the years have been watching kite boarding equipment stuff now winging for my next hobby. Exciting stuff Thanks.

I have jumped on here specifically to thank you for the video content that you have created this year and to wish you and your family a merry Christmas. I look forward to your videos each month so even if it is free riding (which I love) please keep it up. I have just watched the latest blue planet episode with Ken Winner (great christmas present). Of course the insights from Ken are gold. The footage of Alan is fantastic for me. Of course I love his fluid riding however one aspect that I really enjoy is the drone perspective that you have shot. I like seeing the surroundings and the bigger picture. Hawaii is quite the hike from where I wing but somehow that footage takes me there. We are off to new Caledonia for 2 weeks from the 26th. 7 years ago we experienced the most consistent wind there in December. 15 to 20 knots every day for 9 days. I hope to experience the same this time propelled by a wing rather than a kite. Best wishes to you-Good winds!

Great interview ,what a great inventor I still have flapper
@blueplanetsurf2 жыл бұрын
What’s a flapper 🤔
@Hydrosurf_2 жыл бұрын
A flapper is a windsurfer with a rubber flap on the back, it started the wide board revolution. Avs. Anti ventilation skirt by Roberts sailboards. Invented by Ken

Really great interviews of ken and the others and with this long format you can go in depth. I suggest nils rosenbad for a next one or rapf salles And some younger ones as the average age is quite high or even very high.🤙🙂

@@blueplanetsurf i think it s difficult for him to remenber and speak of this period .As it is for most of the old windsurfers.this period was very special . Nostalgia is though .iknow i m just 3 years less older.

Duotone execs must be a little uncomfortable with Ken sharing all the trade secrets. It’s great how much he’s contributed to the sport.
@blueplanetsurf Жыл бұрын
Much of the information he shared is posted on the Duotone website. What I found interesting is the things he tried that did not work, his design philosophy, and dedication to testing.

If you are referring to Blue Planet boards, we do have some dealers on the mainland. We also have two retail shops here in Hawaii (which is part of the USA) and offer free air cargo shipping to all major US airports. 🤙🏼

This is awesome! However i have seen some more innovative approach by brands like Vantage with a more scientific driven approach. I love Ken though! ❤
@blueplanetsurf2 жыл бұрын
Your comment makes me wonder if you are sponsored or work for Vantage? I agree that a science driven approach works well to come up with new concepts but the real test is always if it works on the water. I think testing and making incremental improvements is the best way to come up with improved designs.🤙🏼
