Great video. I just put in an order for this same engine. Unfortunately they didn’t have all the parts. This video will definitely help out in getting the parts I need. In regards to the arp bolts is there a link you can provide for those. Or what set was purchased. And thank you again. 👍

I would recommend using Felpro Performance VS12869 T. They are rubber but with a rigid metal core and bolt holes. They can't be over tightened and are resusable. Ive got a set on a 350 that I've had on for about 5 years and zero leaks.

What a beautiful engine. I'm gonna buy a 396 when I put enough money aside this March. Can't wait to drop it into my K10.

They make shorter spark plugs called shorty plugs might give u a little more room with the plug wires hitting the headers summit sells them

I have the Blueprint "complete" 383 in my 55 Chevy, mine dynoed at 453 hp, 490 tq...so far I have 350 miles on it 150 miles for the break in....wonder how much your 396 will put out for power?

Did you change the gear on the distributor? Have a blueprint engine on the way and have heard that I will need a special gear for the roller cam. Some people say don’t worry about it and some say it needs to be changed to melonized. Just wondering what you are running here
@mossman381 Жыл бұрын
We are running a distributor recommended by BluePrint. progressionignition.com/ . I don't believe they have a special gear on the distributor. The best thing to do is contact BluePrint. They were very helpful when I contacted them.

What fuel pump did you use? BP recommends a 110gph but it’s too big to fit.

@@trouble603 Fits a 70 Camaro easily. You do have to clock the fuel pump so the fittings don't run into the frame.
@trouble603 Жыл бұрын
@@mossman381 it’s not the fittings it’s the body of the fuel pump that hit the frame. It don’t sit low enough to bolt up
@mossman381 Жыл бұрын
@@trouble603 The 70 Monte Carlo isn't a small car. I believe they even installed the 454 big block in those cars. Hard to believe a fuel pump won't fit. Might have to get a factory type pump. If you run out of fuel might have to go electric.

Should a person wrap headers?
@mossman381 Жыл бұрын
I don't think you need to if you get a good quality coated header. I noticed running engines on my run stand that these coated Hedman headers were a lot cooler than just painted headers.

What about a shorty spark plug?
@mossman3812 жыл бұрын
Don't think I have ever heard of a shorty plug. I had to do some "work" to the headers. I added some clearance for the plug. I can get the plug wire on but it still touches. Might flip the wires around and use the smaller end for the plugs.
