so yeah I’m not a new player, but a older one whom has made expensive mistake in this area. Any way to my question. You say that cost index makes little difference in the big scheme of things. Is cost index a function of your standings with the Corp who owns the station? Moreover, is there a benefit to working my BPOs at a station where my standings are 3.0 vs 1.0 with the ownership NPC Corp? If so, is it a big enough difference to worry about? I, seemingly foolishly, researched a Charon bpo all the way up. At ridiculous cost of course. I realize that was overkill. Is there something I should do to recoup my losses other than just sell tons of copies?

just in theory, if those original blueprints are for infinte runs, why is there always a demand for it? wouldn't most of the manufacturers already have a maxed out one sitting in their base of choice where they produce their stuff?

So ... you just sell the BPOs after researching them? Who buys the researched BPOs? Wouldn't a serious producer just research his own NPC BPOs?

Well as a lot of industrial pilots do not have maxed science skills so they buy the maxed BPOs to not have to wait 30 - 60 days to start manufacturing

Im an advanced researcher and let me tell you, when I have a bpo that takes me almost 42 days to research vs a bpo that costs me 50-70 mill for a fully researched one i will always search for and pay for the already researched bpo. I figured Id make the isk back by the time i get to producing and manufacturing from it as opposed to just sit the 40 plus days o f it just being researched. Its all about what you have planned for yourself. If i pay way too much for a researched bpo, I buy the unresearched blueprint and have one of my alts research two or three of them if I have the slots available then go and sell those for the same amount of what I paid for the researched one, giving me my return isk spent plus profit.

how the hell do you pay 748m and get 1200 to 1500m? please explain. what exactly is making the isk the copys, inventing or building the ships? and I'm guessing on top of what you pay for the BPO you have to buy materials and shit to invent or build?

everything makes the isk. If i go and buy a researched blueprint, Im paying for the time spent on it being researched. Once i have it in my posession, I can then chose to manufacture ships or whatever for less materials and a faster time frame, or I could also make copies of any amount of runs I chose to then sell by way of contracts. If i pay way too much for a bpo that I really need, I get two unresearched ones and have my alts research them and when theyre done I get my return plus profit when i sell them for the same of not slightly less amount of when I bought the researched one. Basically, youre paying premium to not sit around and wait for however long it takes for some of them to finish. 40-80 days is a fucking drag when I want to start producing yesterday lol hope that helped.
