She reminds me also of my late wife, Lisa Kindred. Same sort of raw boned stature and heartfelt vocals. (You can find her on You Tube.) In fact, sometime in 1970, if memory serves, Janis was asked during an interview on KSAN FM ["The" FM Music station in San Francisco at the time], "Who do you consider to be your local competition?" She replied with my wife's name. No, they really didn't sound anything alike, but that didn't seem to stop people, fans, some players and pundits alike, from making the comparison. They knew each other and really didn't have a rivalry.

@@mandiegraham4571, When I watched that video and saw and heard you come up and sit in, I immediately thought of my late wife, Lisa Kindred. While you two could never be accused of "Sounding Like Janis" (nor each other) by another musician, you three all have and/or had the same approach and feeling for music. Give her a watch and listen and you'll see and hear what I mean. (Yes, Lisa was told the Janis thing a lot too.) Just "Keep on Keepin' On". Her last album is called Thoughts Of California, a song written by Wm. Moses "Billy" Roberts, who wrote Hey Joe - yes, That "Hey Joe". I used to play guitar with him after Lisa and I went our separate ways in the mid '70's & then we started playing together again ... "Its 'Complicated'" is the short version.

Last night I found myself at this absolutely wild talent show. Picture this: a singer named Mandy, a retired violinist making a surprise appearance, and a mix of characters you wouldn't expect to see in the same room. Then, out of nowhere, the host cracks a joke about a "stalker" in the audience, adding a hint of hilarity and a sprinkle of concern to the evening. The highlight, though, was when they pulled the audience into the mix, giving shout-outs to folks from all corners of the globe. It felt like a worldwide bash!

That shopping mall is a far place from where I immersed in the blues. You did take me back to Blue Monday at the Blind Pig in 1976. Boogie Woogie Red pounding the keys 'till his fingers swelled like sausages. Red kept playin' long after his fingers wouldn't bend and the tips quit comin' in.
