Griff, your BB king lessons were the first tutorials I watched on youtube and the first song I learned on my electric guitar 2 years ago. Thanks to you now it's a passion. Today I'm revisiting this lesson, so much to learn yet!

Griff, This is the Best Thrill Is Gone lesson I’ve seen on KZbin. The way you explained how the 4 note solo pattern got shifted down an octave really made sense. No one has ever explained that way. Great! Thank you 🙏 👍👍👍

Thanks for this lesson. "The Thrill Is Gone" was the first BB King tune I heard and it's still my favorite. I've tried to figure out what BB's doing on this song for years and kind of gave up. It sounds so simple, but then that's the challenge of it. Also I never could figure out the chords on this tune. I could never get it to sound right.

I couldn't help but notice that B.B. started multiple licks on the 1. Bars 1, 2, 5... but when you're the King who needs rules? Also, I can see where Clapton got the ideas for Strange Brew. Whenever I try to replay this solo in my head, Brew keeps creeping in.

Great lesson Griff , you're the man! I can see you have an great collection of instruments that you play , and I am in awe of your gear. Curious about your take on less expensive gear Epiphone , Squier , G&L Trib. ect. I find the tone on some of of these axes to be very close to the originals. Do you think they are a bargain to buy or in the long run is it better to save up & invest in the more expensive gear ?
@bluesguitarunleashed7 жыл бұрын
Get what you can afford and don't worry about it. The difference between a $500 and $3000 instrument isn't NEARLY what it used to be.
@anivegmin7 жыл бұрын
You said that the Eb played on the 11th fret of the E string "makes no sense", and is just a "passing tone". But surely it's the 3rd of a B7 as opposed to the minor 3rd of Bm7, so it's mixing the major into the minor in a classic blues manner, so it makes just as much sense as using the b5 blues note. It's sensible in terms of the blues. Also it happens at the point where there is a progression from a m7 to a maj7 chord. Well I think that's what's going on.
@bluesguitarunleashed7 жыл бұрын
It would make sense if this were a "standard" blues where the B was a B7 instead of a Bminor. It's normal and customary to put a b3 over a fundamentally major chord - that's the blues in a nutshell - but to put a major 3rd over a minor 3rd is an odd choice and unusual. There are VERY few instances of this that I've seen and I've transcribed hundreds of solos over the years.
@anivegmin7 жыл бұрын
OK Thanks.
@opannefrank19865 жыл бұрын
@@bluesguitarunleashed I've also transcribed hundreds of blues solos. I'm unsure why this is so confusing to you. It makes perfect sense to me.
@bluesguitarunleashed5 жыл бұрын
@@opannefrank1986 it isn't confusing, it's unusual at best... but hey, if you dig it, carry on.
