I wish I could find an entire concert of this guy. His first couple of albums are classics. Such feel. What a player.

What a curse for a solo guitarist to have T.M. Stevens on the bass... still Blues manages to catch the attention. Way underrated guitarist!

Vai is hardly a overplaying shredder, blues saraceno definitely has his sound, you can tell with a few notes of vibrato and his bends and you know who it is! same with via, would be great to see G4 with saraceno, zappa, vai. and satriani, these guys all translate from mind and soul to strings better than anyone, because its just not all technical. now someone like Jeff loomis is technical as all hell but his guitar just doesnt speak!

I Just poured my heart out about Blues and the post ate it, anyways I heard his dad had alot to do with his always changing tones he made his pedals, the guy is incredible and underated I cant stand when people call him a satch rip off, hes nothing like him he got Effed by the indrustry. Hairpic is like Van Halen 1 if you play guitar you need to own a copy not a bad song on it.

Always though Blues was the missing link in the G3. His songs are great and he really is musical when he plays not just a shred fest. Brilliant tone.

Are you saying that Dimebag influenced on Blues's playing? 'cause it's definitely the other way around.... Dimebag was a Blues fan, he tattooed Blues' Plaid pattern in one of his legs.

Look Vai is a great player he is a bit off the wall but that's a good thing imo as they entertain. I however love people like Saraceno and Timmons who I think have that extra something that often get's lost in shred fests - note selection and song writing. Joe Satriani is able to retain it but would love to see other great players get the same recognition. Top players..Dan Huff, Blues Saraceno and Andy Timmons all missing on the G3 tour!!

I would argue that one of the things that makes vai so spectacular is the fact that he doesnt overplay. He has his shreddy songs, but some of his best, most powerful music, such as Hand on heart and tender Surrender, is all about perfect note selection and phrasing, nothing "overplayed" about it. I would argue that his does a much better job communicating feelings and emotion than timmons. AT has some real nice tones and unique licks, but a lot of it isnt very captivating. My opinion.

"Shreddy doesnt equate to "overplaying." You can shred in service to the music. Maaaan, you cray.

I have to say friend I disagree, I really like Vai and appreciate his contribution to pushing the instrument and the boundaries but he does often overplay hence his 'shreddy songs' which is my point. While Andy may be less unique in technique he always is playing for the song (even in Danger Danger). Anyhow I appreciate people want different things - you want captivation I want to listen to the music.

I can sure hear some dimebag here, and he was an influence on him
@slapitman11 жыл бұрын
I don't doubt his phrasing is exemplary but he has a real tendency to be flashy and over play to retain his place as king of the hill. I just believe that there are other players out there with very similar technique who know the difference between a turkey sandwich and an overcooked thanks giving dinner. My opinion.

Same horror vacui you can listen everywhere and ever. Does a guitar player have to fill and fill and fill his solo time? And licks are the oldest and most known of everyone... Poor music, isn't it?
