Hadn’t looked at this video before since I played the song with a good friend and vocalist for years and didn’t think there would be much more to learn. As usual you always bring something new to the table,in this case the interaction of the various blues and diminished scales that make your improvising so tasty. Nice vocal too. Thanks.

I just posted to say that I'd never played an 8 bar blues But I've in fact played St. James Infirmary. but I certainly don't think I did it justice. I remember looking online and I kept finding variations and couldn't work out where the chords changed and my ear isn't good enough to do the fine tuning to get changes within the bar. so I'm now going to look again to see what I can find. and thanks for all your help!

Thanks that was both fascinating and very useful and I'm going to look if you've done any more on any other 8 bar Blues. I play bass reasonably well but I am certainly not a musician and I have both a really poor musical ear and also damaged hearing from rock concerts not to mention almost no musical theory. I am of course working on all fronts, but I played mainly a blues Jams and generally only play 12 ball Blues and I've never heard of an 8 Ball Blues until recently. What I've learnt the last couple of weeks is that there seems to be more variation in an 8-bar Blues than the typical 12 Bar Blues people play at jam sessions so I've got a mountain to climb and you've helped me take a couple of steps All I need to get me going the chord progression and I do allow for the factbthat guitarist may add bits in and drop bits out but I need the basic chord progression and it's very very hard for me to work out. So thanks very much for highlighting the progression.

Hey Tony! Thanks for sharing that great tune and some sweet Ideas to play over it! Can you shortly explain why the F#° resolves so nicely to the C/G? it seems like a passing diminished insert chord but that would rather resolve to an G.. Thanks!
@TonyWinston2 жыл бұрын
F# as a dominant chord (D7) would resolve to a G. I will have to consult the theory books for an answer but as a diminished chord, there are many ways it can be resolved.

Very good singing Maestro (voice and look, with that little beard, were just great...): I think you should add it to your repertoire, work out a killer solo and probably record it... and judging by comments general tone I'm not alone in feeling that way...as for myself, I will try and steal every note and any insight, as always 🎼😊. PS: didn't know you did Cov-19: glad it went just like mine (I had it maybe 3 of 4 times, by now 🙄... ). A great week to everybody 😊.
