Army had about 10 min of media availability on the poor play/Saad on waivers. With Saad and Scotty P gone, that leaves 2 open rosters spots, so one of the reporters asked if that meant we might see some prospects called up. In a very Army line, he said no to the callups and that they haven’t seen much of Texier, who has been in and mostly out of the lineup. The moves give his coach fewer roster options, so they can see if the pro scouts were right about Texier’s potential

Saad’s only scored in four games this year, even after they stuck him to Thomas and Buch on the top line. I’m not surprised or really all that sad. I DID go to his hat trick game, though.

Matheson was stellar last season. He's been a lot more human this season and has definitely had some rough games. I'm still thinking and wanting this team to continue rebuilding so Matheson will be what he will be for this team at the moment. He's not the worst player on the roster. If we make it beyond 82 games this year, it's a bonus.
@DiedonSunday8 күн бұрын
Also with Matheson you have to consider that he’s been moved to his off hand side and plays with Hutson, who although he isn’t terrible at defence is also not a shutdown guy. I’ve actually been quite impressed with his ability to be consistent on the right. Fans get it wrong sometimes.

A very loud minority of Canadiens fans have it out for Matheson ever since he joined up, he’s an offensive defenseman … like the old definition of it, meaning he’s decent to bad in defense, but good to awesome upfront (always better if compared), he makes me think of Lubomir Visnovsky sometimes. It’s similar to how defensive forwards generally don’t produce much upfront, Phillip Danault comes to mind he doesn’t produce offensively enough to be considered for the Selke ironically, Bergeron, O Reilly, Kopitar, Barkov, fit more in the complete player category so does Lidstrom, but Karlsson is an offensive defenseman.

As a Habs fan, Matheson's complete lack of defensive awareness on some nights this season has been unacceptable. I think the fact that he's been the reason we've lost 3-4 games at minimum is ridiculous, he's been awful and the offense hasn't been there to really be able to forgive those bad giveaways or horrible turnovers. People say Savard should be the one traded at the deadline but I think it needs to be Mike Matheson. Matheson has another year on his deal, and there are teams that would be delusional enough to trust Matheson at both ends of the ice, no clue how this guy gets time on the penalty kill top unit over Guhle and Xhekaj, fuck even Hutson's had a MUCH better time on the defensive end of the ice over Matheson.

The Blues need to work on their Defensemen. When they won the Cup, their defensive core played for the goalie. Now they no longer do that, but there aren't any scorers either. Krug, although out for the year, is a prime example.

When we won The Cup, we were a big, strong team. Heavy on forechecking. Had 4 decent offensive lines. Big strong, tall talented defensemen. Now we’ve got none of that except for Colton Parayko. Parayko - and maybe Robert Thomas - would be my only untouchables.
