Red light 😂 I replaced the 2 capacitors using the same electric blue pump , the light remained red during 10 seconds and then became green and finally blue Many thanks Marc You were effectively right about aging problem but the existing capacitors are KSC brand from China with apparently bad reputation ?? Consequently I have installed Panasonic capacitors referenced EEU-FM1A102B Maybe they will last longer Regards

What an EXCELLENT video. My Node 2 had the same problem. I was able to bring it back by replacing the two capacitors, using this video as a great guide.

Excellent vidéo Marc but the capacitors are supposed to hold 4000 h at 105 degrees which allows quite a lot of listening years How do you explain this recurrent failure taking into account that the temperature of the heat sink is far from being 105 degrees
@MarcsHobbies14 күн бұрын
Thanks Alex for your comment! Just to add my perspective - I generally try to avoid placing electrolytic capacitors near heat sources when designing PCBs. Even if they meet the specifications, the heat exposure tends to accelerate their aging and dry-out over time. Better safe than sorry with component placement.

nice watch ;-) My Node2 is showing the same fault. Great clarity and pace to your video. It's given me the confidence to give it a go myself.

Are there any solid capacitors from a premium brand that would change also the quality of sound? I'm about to get a Powernode 2 for a few pounds that has the red light problem and I want to know if it can be brought to life but also to get the improved experience. Thanks
@MarcsHobbies2 ай бұрын
I don't think so - these caps are not in the signal path. Since they are getting warm or hot I would choose some 105 degree ones. Make sure capacity and voltage are correct and have an eye on polarity.
@masterat0r2 ай бұрын
Then changing all the caps will do. Just kidding. If ai aint broken, dont fix it. Thanks Marc

Great video! What is that tool that you used to clip the soldered connections from the underside of the board?
@MarcsHobbies5 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment. You are probably talking about a solder sucker ;-). I used one of these: www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005632540345.html

For the glueish case just take alcohol and cotton to remove it
@MarcsHobbies11 ай бұрын
Thank you for your comment. I actually tried with alcohol but it seemed to week as a solvent. Wolfgang finally took acetone which did the trick.
