Once Elvis Presley sang a song, it became his, and like Elvis, once Booker played a piece of music on piano, it was his. He was definitely a musical genius! RIP James Booker.👑🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹🎹👑

Carroll Brooker would play once a week at the Maple Leaf in the late 70's very early 80's and a few times at TIP's.

The first 2:30 is an absolute masterpiece. I’ve replayed that section a hundred times and I don’t think I’ll ever tire

I've never heard that. Is that a song or is he improvising? It's genius whatever it is.

Every version of Junco Partner by Booker is always a little different that any other he did. One of Booker's many unique talents was the ability to cover a song and take complete possession of it. Listen to King of the Road on the Classified cd or some of the many Good Night Irene covers he did. Roger Miller and Leadbelly would be smilin' if they heard it.

It must be this version that the superb Clash cover on Sandinista! (1980) is of - thanks for uploading, I've been wondering about that for ages! At first I thought it was the Dr John version they covered but this one seems an even better fit. James Booker is absolutely phenomenal!

Agree. That’s how I came to the song: via the clash.

rosalio818 i agree! Amazing and he stands out more than anyone. he brought an organ type of playing to the piano and he plays chords with more power. makes it sound like there are more than 2 hands going at times.

Bullwinkel exactly that was a perfect way of describing his music and this is probably my favorite version of junco partner

people like booker, erroll garner, teddy wilson, all got their gifts and did various ways to use it. booker abused it, to our loss... garner smoked himself to early grave. what losses.

+Lucien Oisel Hi Lucien, it's really great to hear from you. Did you know you are on my website? Have a look here and scroll down the page; bluespianosheets.com/news-tips/ A blues fan from Austria (thanks Vince) told me about this version, it's so different, I love it. It's on iTunes, Gonzo Live 1976 and look for the version 7:14 long. I hope you will be uploading some more videos of yourself soon. Best regards, Greg
