Most people won't even live to see 97, let alone be able to play piano and sing the blues. God bless him and the band for having him share his tremendous musical gift, wisdom, and experiences with all of us. ❤

Pinetop was living proof you eat at McDonald’s every day and live to be 97. Yes, he usually ate at McDonald’s every day. I was at his funeral, and they put a happy meal in the casket with him. He had been my friend since 1972. RIP ole buddy. ❤️

My brother was a musician in Austin Texas and playing out one night he spots Pinetop in the front row with a lady my brother said he thought was an aid/friend....my brother put the spotlight on him and asked if he would like to come up onstage and play with the "boys"..He did and it was one of the best nights of my brother's life as he said. 🎼🎹It's All About The MUSIC💝. Loved this video, thank you! Out of Chicago, I'm the youngest of a professional jazz musician father (piano, upright bass, guitar, vocals) and classical pianist mother. While racism and classism ran amok on the streets, behind the club scene (owners, managers, agents), and throughout every American institution----money and skin color had no power on stage. Only TALENT----not only technical mastery but the ability to communicate and Especially to MOVE fellow musicians and the audience. We met and knew countless entertainers! Gigs rarely paid well so we lived through some serious poverty. My dad's rough lifestyle (whiskey, cigarettes, and plenty of etc😎😉) concluded late one night in his 50s while jamming ON STAGE at the piano; pronounced DOA at Cook County ER. So he went out doing exactly what he Loved. For sure, we had more books and musical instruments than furniture and clothing----yet the riches they both left me outlasted any material wealth. Gracias por la musica y el amor💝⚓ (🌎neLove)🕊☮

I had the great pleasure to tour with Pinetop in the early 90's (I'm a guitarist). We would hang out in the afternoons drinking and he would tell me stories of his days with Muddy, Ike and Tina - those were great times!!

In 1995 I met and had my picture taken with Pinetop at the King Bisquit Blues Festival in West Helena Arkansas, It was my 40'th birthday and I was blown away when he wanted to be with me in a birthday photo. I also got a Happy Birthday kiss on my cheek. To me it was an honor.

@@BluesPianoSheets Forever! And to anyone who has never gone to the festival do so, it is phenomenal! Sitting on the Levy of the Mississippi River listening to Delta Blues. Saw Buddy Guy, Pinetop Perkins, Luther Allison, Billy Branch and the Sons of Blues and much more. On the last day Sunday, I had fried chicken made by the lady's group from the Babtist Church of West Helena and walked over and Watched Dr. John open the show, you can't beat that!

Even when Pine Top was 97 he was still contributing to our world. I pray to God that I may also contribute. I'll be 70 in two weeks and I play music, mostly guitars every day of my life. I am a Fresco Painter and my dream is to paint stories from the Bible on the walls in churches until age 129. -Peter Thanks Mom.

I enjoy the guys, BB King, Muddy WAters, Bo Diddly, lightning Hopkins and now this talented man at 97 still singing and playing the old school gut bucket blues. Never has there been music that stirs the spirit like the REAL blues. Pinetop accompanied so many and was/is a Gifted performer.
