'Metal Kingdom' is the intro and first track on their concept album 'The Other One' and what you saw here was the opening for their 'BABYMETAL Returns' concerts at the end of January - their first live shows in nearly 2 years and their triumphant return from their hiatus. Nice to see you back with BABYMETAL, I really love this song. I constantly change my mind about what is my definitive favorite song on the album tho lol I just can't decide, but this song was such a different re‐introduction to them with all this kingdom thematic and after such a hard time with the Covid stuff, the lyrics are very encouraging and straightforward. By the time this song was released as just a studio audio version it was an incredible experience, it was the first time listening to SU‐METAL even more powerful than before with her vocal ability, hitting those high notes and even adding insane vibratos to her arsenal lol and the choir behind the song is just amazing as well, the tempo of the song reminds me of another one from them called Starlight, would be a cool song for you to react as well 🦊🤘🏼

This song is the opening track from their newest album (released about 8 months ago) titles "The Other One," and also was the opener for this concert. I think it is intended to sound epic and stirring, and is a sort of call to arms to band together and fight for a bright future. Fighting for something (or things related to the milieu of fighting in general) is a main theme on the new album, and the tracks also revolve around fighting to realize one's dream of the future, fighting to escape darkness and gain one's peace of mind, and fighting to connect with others. Overall, this album feels like the most personal to BABYMETAL to me, and I think it is a move toward establishing a new evolution in in style and tone as BABYMETAL grows older and tackles more adult-oriented topics.

Into (several species of) metal they’ve fused pop, rock, hip hop, rap, folk, broadway-esque and now opera. What’s next? Country… bluegrass, swing? I am sure they could pull it off. They could probably even do polka no problem. I love how they never let you get complacent, or disappointed. My favorite group of all time.

Thanks for this reaction ! Glad you liked it, I think I saw a twinkling in your eyes many of us feel. This is how Babymetal opens a show... epic is the only word I can think of... well, maybe cultish LOL 🙂 I remember an interview from years ago where Kobametal (who is the one giving the main direction on the production side) has mentioned he had a discussion with the lighting people: He had said only intense red, white and blue lighting. One of those moments you can see at 4:32 when they change sound and thus lighting to go with it. The new lighting staff had the question: this lighting doesn't show the young ladies faces at all ( something you can also see at 4:32 ) shouldn't we change it ? And he said: no, it's perfect the way it is. I think he's right, it's more epic this way. 🙂

Nice reaction. Babymetals regal return to their metal kingdom. The stage in front of a live audience. And yup this set up an epic level show. Starting with Su sitting on her game of thrones style chair. On the second day Su Moa and Momoko all started sitting on those thrones. Showing how Momometal is now officially part of the group. This concert really set up their moving into a new era of Babymetal. Babymetal loves their theatrics. They're not simple going to say Momoko joined them and start the show. Babymetal has to do a rock opera style show to let you know this is the new Babymetal.

Ending January at Makuhari Messe, they held two big live shows returning to the stage after almost two years with this epic live performance and top notch production. SuMetal and MoaMetal showing why they're a queen and princess deserving their thrones. Those freaking cinematic drone shots make you feel like you're in a movie. There's also a dance choreo version performed first outside of Japan during this recent World Tour and some fans witnessed this even more gorgeous performance, later they did it in their own country at an exclusive show only for fans. They're rocking the Europe & UK Tour right now but so far this song wasn't part of the setlist, we'll see later on (still a couple of more shows), either way fans are enjoying a lot of new songs and some other hits they brought back for this World Tour. ...

This is a live proshot version but with studio album sound, we already got a live sound version with the WOWOW broadcast and the released DVD/BD version of BM Begins TOO live at PIA Arena MM, now with the three girls together on stage. We got so many big news and announcements back then, a new official member was announced to come next live shows in April 1st (Fox Day) when returning once again with another headlining shows at PIA ARENA MM Yokohama, if you don't know MomoMetal was the one blessed by the Fox God as a new official member. Also they performed with a new BM mirror unit coming from another world of this metalverse, they got new songs exclusive for them and we're waiting for more next year. I think this is BABYMETAL Returns show from January this year, since it's just Su and Moa in this vid. In BABYMETAL Begins shows in April, Momo was part of Metal Kingdom also. So, they played Doki Doki Morning with Metalverse at this January show. Then they did Karate with Metalverse at the April show.

Momoko was performing as the Avenger at the BABYMETAL Returns shows in January and for the first (Dark night) of the BABYMETAL Begins concerts in April - she was revealed as the third member of the new BABYMETAL at the end of that show and was Momometal for the first time at Clear Night.

I hate musicals but if BabyMetal did a Metalverse musical, I'm all in The performance of In the name of from legend S, the BabyMetal Death performance from legend 1997, this Metal Kingdom performance, and maybe the Road of Resistance performance from the Saitama Super Arena All such big theatrical performances

Nice one! Metal Kingdom is the latest concept album opener, and designed as a show opener as well. While I enjoy this song, it isn’t a “great”song as a stand alone. In fact, my first reaction was, “meh”, even though I loved Su’s vocals. HOWEVER, once I found out more, I enjoyed it a lot more as well. What makes this performance epic: 1). Lyrics: Band together and fight for your kingdom, your freedom, and carve a path forward with your own hands. 2). IRL setting: Babymetal went on hiatus in 2021, and no one knew if they were ever coming back until Divine Attack was released late 2022. This concert (Babymetal Returns - Jan 2023), and this epic opening was the first time fans seen Babymetal live since 2021. 3). What’s you didn’t see: Concert intro has 3 thrones coming out of the “Fox Gate”, with Su and Moa sitting in 2, and 3rd one empty. This symbolized the “unsealing” of Babymetal. At this point, Momometal is still not an official 3rd member yet, so that empty 3rd throne served as a major tease. Momometal was made official at the end of day 1 of “Babymetal Begins” concert on April 1st, 2023. 4). This concert showcased live debut of many songs from The Other One Concept album, and used various “symbolic imagery” to depict each song. Throne for Metal Kingdom, and Cavalry for Divine Attack, etc. the whole theme is “death” of old Babymetal, which happens at the end of Day 1 of previously mentioned next concert, followed by rebirth of new Babymetal on Day 2. There lore isn confusing as hell lol, but for some songs, such as this one, knowing what happened and the lyrics helped me enjoy it much more. Other suggestions, since you enjoy their collabs: 1). Brand New Day (Live - Legend Metal Galaxy, or 10 Babymetal Budokan): ft. Tim and Scott of Polyphia 👌. 2). Oh! MANINAI (live): ft. Joakim of Sabaton. This one is…interesting, just have a mug of ale ready, matey! Yaarrrrrgh! 3). Road of Resistance (official, live in Japan): Herman & Sam of Dragonforce co-wrote guitars. Can’t believe you didn’t do this one (unless it was taken down). 4). Tales of the Destinies (live st Tokyo Dome): only performed once, Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater gave them his personal thumbs up for this one. 🤘⏱️ Sorry for rediculously long comment, hope to see more Babymetal lol! 🤘🦊

Understanding the lyrics: Not being able to has not been a negative for me. Growing up in the 60s I read a lot of fantasy/science fiction. CGI hadn’t been invented and set production was cheesy at best, so no movies to stifle my imagination. Nowadays, I really don’t need to use that imagination-it’s all done for me. Su’s Japanese vocals allow me the freedom to interpret the song as best fits my ‘needs’-wish I could come up with a better word. I don’t need to know what she’s saying to have my heart ripped out. BM has the power of metal behind vocals that have brought me to tears. ❤❤❤

Good comments and good energy. I'm growing to like this song more with repeated listenings. That said it's hard to have listened to a lot of Babymetal and not have been expecting some kind of big drop. I missed that and a breakdown of some sort-I think-would have just put that missing touch in place. I've heard one other live recording of this that was basically the same but seemed to have more energy to it. That-again to me-more energetic performance kind of made up for the lack of a drop.

Welcome back. Official MV's from Babymetal rarely use LIVE audio. Instead they use studio audio over LIVE footage. In my opinion I would instead react to HQ pro shot videos of LIVE performances using actual LIVE audio and instrumental from the Kami Band (such as the link to this performance below) you will notice the difference immediately.
