I've scouring the interweb looking for info on backup for Ocean of Diamonds...and here you've already done a whole lesson on exactly that. You're the best Eli!

Many times on different YT channels, I have asked the question of relating the different Banjo Rolls to the guitar strumming patterns of 3/4 and 4/4. Eli, you are the only online Instructor that I realize have addressed this question for me. I had to guess & improvise to get the beat within the measure to get the 3/4 beat. Guess what? It's exactly like you have shown on this video. Thank you so much. A 60-yr old-learning-by ear subscriber from Malaysia. God bless.

I think this video on Crowe's bluesy 3/4 time work is super informative. I've been listening to Crowe since his earliest days with Martin.. My mom and I used to go to the Red Slipper Lounge to listen to Crowe-Allem-Lawson-Slone many years ago. Crowe was the banjo player of her choice telling me to "play it like Crowe or put the banjo down" - I'm still playing some of those licks - you're doing a great job :-)

haha no way! I've been obsessing over JD's licks in the BGAB version of Sitting Alone in the Moonlight and asked Rich Stillman to cover in my lesson today. Thanks for this Eli!!!

So handy that this backup is all with closed chords and on the first four strings only, making it a snap to move up the neck without a capo - to play in other keys :) Although playing the highest riff in D or E would not be possible with this particular arrangement, it looks like (too high on the fret board).
