I have the Worktunes. The reason I bought it was because of the AA batteries. I'm not a big fan of rechargeables unless it's on a power tool. If the batteries go dead on the Worktunes I just replace the batteries and move on. No waiting for something to recharge before I can use it again. Just my 2 cents. Thanks for taking the time. Good comparison. JimE

Yes I totally agree on that. And the batteries last quite awhile too.

Very coincidental that I just wrote a hearing protection message for our woodturning club newsletter. I was not aware of these blue tube devices. Thanks for the share!

I like the 3M, i love am and fm and also sometimes enjoy streaming music from my phone. Plus i can hook up my ham radio to a fm emitter and listen on these headset via radio. For myself, i perfer AA because i can change it out on the road easier than having to find a plug to charge. Im sharing this video to my friends because they dont know which one to get. Thanks for the great video.

I'm a fan of the 3M Worktunes. I find earbuds increase earwax buildup. I'm also concerned about the earbud speaker being in the ear canal. The scariest thing about hearing loss (due to loud music) is that most of the time it's painless. You don't realize that you have damaged your hearing until it's too late

HI Steve, I didn't know that earplugs could increase wax build up. Thanks for letting me know. I forgot to mention that both the Iso Tunes and the Work Tunes limit the volume of the music to 85 decibels, but yes loud music is a major contributor to hearing loss.

I got the Isotunes extra 2.0 amd they’re ot blocking construction sounds outside my condo at all. I still hear all the hammering and drilling. What am I doing wrong?
@JackbenchWoodworking3 жыл бұрын
I'm sorry to hear that they're not working out the way you expected. My only suggestion would be to ensure that they are fully seated in your ears.

Great info, thanks for the review. You might want to replay the video and count how many times you said “uh” and “um”. Some kind of a script or footnotes while recording may be of help.

if you worked a 12hr shift what one would you grab

HI Daniel, I like the 3M earmuffs better partly because the controls are so much easier to use. I don't think I could keep them on continuously for 12 hours because of the way earmuffs tend to push against the sides of my glasses. If I didn't wear glasses then I would definitely use the 3M muffs. But, if I had to wear them continuously then I would probably go for the Iso Tunes. I should say too, that I have more trouble with the soft type of ear plugs than most other people. If you like the very soft ear plugs that have become popular then you would probably like the Iso Tunes more than I did. I hope this helps, Charlie

I bought work tunes so I don't have to deal with annoying construction workers on my day off. Unlike some people I'm off during the week and these guys that come around every week is a total headache drilling out street.

Use the triple tiered ear plug parts and ditch the foam. I hate the foam.

I agree, the foam that comes with the Iso tunes leaves a lot to be desired.

Sorry but I am absolutely 100% against any hearing protection that plays music or and podcast or other distraction that takes away hearing what is going on around us while in a shop working. It is critical we hear noise that our machines make and any outside noises such as a emergency situation nearby. Call me a stick in the mud but having worked in construction all my life and running projects I absolutely will not allow radios or any other form of entertainment while at work. Distraction is simply not worth it. Listen to music or other forms of entertainment when you are not working, there is a time and place for everything, distraction while working is not one of them.

I own and operate my own landscape construction Co and use these type of products. If you are using equipment you still here the various noises except for as an example casual voice. They limit the volume so it is loud enough to hear, but doesn't completely knock out your ability to hear what is going on. I do agree with you it can be a distraction,. So in short, i said casual voice, even without muffs, you wouldn't hear a person or noise at that level. However, just like without, somebody screaming(injury) or machine breaking you will hear that with music playing. From a distraction point yes it can. But at least in my situation, i rather my crew wear SAFETY equipment (not normal ear buds) than nothing to protect their hearing. Not hearing your 8 year old granddaughter calling your name sometimes is sad.
