I just installed a 6 circuit transfer box off my single Bluetti AC300 +(2) BC300 and it was very easy, even for someone like me who has very little knowledge of electricity. Of course I'm now considering buying another AC300, 2 more batteries and an interlock kit now. Strangest thing happened, I finished my install and we had our first power outage in months not 2 hours later. Power was only off for under 2 hours but it was very nice having our TV, WiFi and refrigerators all working. This was money well spent IMO.

Good instruction....! I plan to use my AC to DC going to the solar charge ports so I can use my 2kw portable generator or small gas generator. I like that integration cable from Bluetti but I got several rv to 4 blade converter plugs....heavier and bulky compared to the Bluetti 240v cable. Keep up the good work.

@hobotech I discovered a HUGE thing to keep in mind when using transfer switches over sub panels with the AC300!!! (read for more info) Transfer switches only switch the hot side(s) and share the common neutral and ground from the main panel WHERE AS quality sub-panels switch the entire panel (the hot(s) and neutral) between the grid and another source (generator or AC300). The AC300 ground input and ground output are isolated (what I would think as lifted). For that panel: unplug the AC charging inputs from the grid before you power up the AC output and activate the transfer switch! Can still use DC (solar) charging or a gas powered generator into the AC300 as needed for extended grid down while having the AC300's AC output turned on. Just remember to isolate the AC300's charging input from the AC output! The AC300 suffers from a problem that causes partial self destruction If the AC300 is connected to the grid and the transfer switch at the same. The reason is the AC300 charging input and AC output are not isolated when those functions are both operating (charging and AC output). One can burn up the FETs (transistors) in the H-bridge circuit used to drive the output (PWM into a low pass filter for smooth sine-wave) because the "shared" neutral provides a path for a short (from the rectified input to the PWM output) in these types of transfer switch (which is legal and UL listed). It happened with several units and I suggested talking to Bluetti engineers and confirmed that the charging inputs and AC outputs require isolation (both hot and neutral lines) if you plan to use both at the same time. I ended up purchasing an expensive $700 "medical grade" isolation transformer between the AC300 unit and the grid as there are times I want to keep the AC300 topped up (aka continuous or online UPS-like) up during ruff weather. My transfer switch is automated (search APC UTS series, I have a UTS-6H which only requires 120V hence only one AC300) instead of a manual one as you listed in this video. I'd love to meet up at some point, but I am many states away up in the the PNW (Pacific North West).

Your earlier videos led to my initial purchase of the AC300/B300 2 years ago as a ~ UPS for a critical piece of equipment in my home. I have since built up to the exact setup pictured in this video that I am about to hookup to a combination of grid and solar(the latter thru a solaredge inverter) coming in thru the main panel with additional solar plugged directly to the Bluetti .For everybody's information the integration kit contains the Y shaped charging cable. I understand the Transfer switch prevents backfeeding/net metering to/thru the grid so what happens to energy collected by the solar panels attached directly to the Bluetti when the batteries are full? If you are not home during a blackout how would you switch from grid power to battery (or vice versa if you normally run on battery which runs out of charge while not at home)? What do you think of using the 240V outlets for a level 2 charger, particularly for a hybrid vehicle? meow

Yeah it's kind of weird you have to jump through these hoops for 240v in the USA and Japan when the companies make natively 240v ones for the UK and EU! Be nice if they offered some sort of "world site" where you can specify the kind you want, and just use an adapter.
@HOBOTECH

You have to understand the EU/AUS models are 240v 50hz single phase and absolutely useless for American appliances.
@matt.docondor6099
@matt.docondor6099 7 ай бұрын
I asked my friend why he uses an EU Bluetti with 230 volts in the USA in the single phase network. He has medical equipment connected to it. These can be used with 120-240 volts and 50/60 hz. The 230 volt EU Bluetti would run more stable than in the 120 volt system. ??? The single-phase three-wire system (split-phase electric power), sometimes incorrectly referred to as the two-phase power system, is the common power supply for homes and small businesses in the USA. Three-phase alternating current (AC), which has been common in Europe for many decades, is often not available for many consumers in the USA.

Do the linked units do anything to keep the battery level consistent between the two as various single phase appliances draw on each phase at different rates? Or could you potentially run out of power on one phase before the other?
@teuton6167
@teuton6167 7 ай бұрын
Great explanation-thank you @HOBOTECH. You mentioned that the Bluetti AC 300 won’t charge while it is outputting in 240V split phase. But will it charge with AC or DC when you are only using one AC 300 unit with the 30 amp RV outlet to a transfer switch? How about the EcoFlow Delta Pro? Can the EcoFlow DeltaPro charge from AC or DC while outputting 120V 30 amp power from its RV outlet port?
@HOBOTECH
@HOBOTECH 7 ай бұрын
Incorrect. I said it will only charge with 240v split while in split phase mode. You can't charge it from 120v individually. In single phase mode you can do whatever.
@claytonyoung1351
@claytonyoung1351 7 ай бұрын
Seems like the other split phase adapter seems easier to me. This of course would back up wall outlets directly, but expensive, and needing an electrician to wire this up is a bit too much friction for me. As long as I can run 240v on the other split phase adapter I am happy with that option as it's easier to set up.

You do NOT need that Bluetti cable to charge the split-phase AC300's with 120v. You do need (2) 120v outlets, (1) from each phase. You need 1 outlet from each Phase from your main panel. Each AC300 needs to be fed 120v from the same phase it operates on. Bluetti has a video describing how this has to work. kzbin.info/www/bejne/l3WvqalrpLJoocksi=OJBQBIHx82XvZMwT You can also use Bluetti T500 chargers that Allow you to put 500W directly into each battery. With T500's you could use a 2000 generator, or wall outlets to put 500w into each battery. With T500's phase does not matter. With any Transfer switch you must have switched neutrals or you will fry the Bluetti. The neutral from the AC300 must be kept separate from the grid neutral. I have been using 2 AC300's ant 4 B300 batteries for most of this year with 4000W of panels for most of this year. I run most of the house with the year using almost 5 Megawatts of solar used. I do not run the heat pump or water heater. They have done wonderful. I do wish a firmware update will add timers and some logging to the AC300 or/and the app.

I'm fixing to put a 6 circuit Reliance 306CRK transfer box in. I'm very new at this stuff so I hope you can answer a question for me. I have 1 AC300 and 2 BC300 batteries. I am only generating 120 and have read and saw instructions until I'm blue in the face but still am uncertain about a few things. (1) I bought a TT 30 to L-14-30 adapter to plug from the AC300 to my extension chord then to my transfer box. I don't understand how I will have all 6 breakers if there are 2 sets of three but I have seen this done on other videos. (2) You scared me about "frying the Bluetti" with an improper neutral. The instructions say to attach the neutral to the neutral bar in my box and the ground to my ground bar or neutral bar in the electric box. Do you see a hazard to any of this or is this only something to worry about with split phase? Any help would be appreciated.

What is happening with this Bluetti AC300/B300 240v setup while charging only with PV solar? When not plugged in to an AC source for charging does the PV solar only charge to the batteries and the AC discharging only from the batteries? If this is the case will the multiple cycles of PV charging and AC discharging during a day on a regular long term basis shorten the life of the batteries. How should charging with only PV while also AC discharging be managed? As in an off grid solar configuration not grid tied solar.

PV will charge all the time it is available. This has a configurable UPS. You can get it to charge at certain times or percentages with grid power or solar. There is no effect on the battery. If it is left hooked to grid it will use that first then the batteries if the grid loses power.

Great explanation, although with my tech/mechanical ignorance I would still be hesitant to set this thing up - I'd be afraid that I was going to blow something up or burn my house down. Speaking of burning houses down and UL listed products, I used to have a mobile home which had been built with a Federal Pacific Electric (FPE) circuit breaker panel with "Stab-Lok" circuit breakers. FPE had faked its UL testing and falsely claimed - and labeled its product with - unjustified UL listing. The breaker box was widely used in homes across the country and had caused many fires and other disasters. ( Fortunately I had no fire, just things like wall outlets and light sockets that went dead and circuit breakers which couldn't be replaced because the hoax had come out and no one would work with the things. You see why I am so hesitant to work with sort of stuff. If you can't trust a UL underwriting you can't trust anything.

The 240v split phase seems to become easier and more reliable. That’s good. Now we need some reviews of actual 240V inverters, inverter/chargers and solar generators.

Thank God other manufacturers are coming to the rescue from this type of clutter setup. Anker Solix F3800 doesn't need interface unit to generate split phase. Its already built in. You only need one unit to generate 240acv. Segway Cube power stations don't even need them ugly expansion cables. Its built on a docking system. I ordered Segway kick starter for 569.00 Anker has theirs for 2,500 for the 3.8 kwh on the kick starter. Nice, but I'll stick to DIY.

@nullseta
@nullseta 7 ай бұрын
I agree. I have this exact bluetti system as well as the Growatts. The bluetti is much easier to set up, but much less efficient. The bluetti batteries are way to expensive compared to even the 5kw rack batteries that I got with the Growatts. I have 2 Growatt systems one with the rack batteries and one with the 12v rv batteries. Both have higher capacity than the bluetti and cost far less. The bluetti has more issues than either other systems and often gets failures and stops charging. Bluetti also has horrible customer support.

Of course, we can't charge with solar well then. I just uncovered a snow and solar. And it's gotta charge with solar because it don't got no AC connection possibility unless run a Extension cord two miles To the neighbor house which I don't think is possible. Or in this case, it's gonna be solar panels and solar panels. Only no gas generators, because I won't have one.

I think it would be helpful to explain the difference between a bonded neutral and a floating neutral...(this box is intended to be used with a GEN source with a floating neutral). The special cable is to keep from frying the 120V AC grid power due to the floating neutral...(It would fry it if it is out of phase)
@HOBOTECH

I should point out first of all that he "integration kit" is nothing but an off the shelf R510A Pro/Tran transfer switch that sells for around $400 at most home improvement stores. But that being said they're good units and I've installed several of them. As for the Bluetti system itself - don't get me wrong, I like Bluetti. I have an AC200Max and B300 battery and have had zero problems and it works exactly as specified. But if you need a 240V split phase system this is not the way to go. Without discounts this set up would cost about $10K for something with 12 kwh battery capacity and 6 kw load capacity. I just put in a whole house solar system with 13kw load capacity and a 30 kwh battery bank, twice the capacity of this system, for $12K including cables, switches, circuit breakers, everything, not including solar panels. And that's using premium components with no short cuts. If I'd been willing to go with cheaper batteries I could have brought that system in for about the same cost as this.

They don't make sense economically, especially if you're looking for something that can run your entire house.

I had three of the batteries from BLUETTI 700, 1800, 200max and with 400 solar panels for the main power in takes . I purchased the 200 Max in November 2022 and only used it for a month then broke down and contacted the company, and they sent me a replacement. I only used 200 Max for the Air-fryer and used 30 minutes maximum for 4 times a week. After 6 months using it, then recently we found out that the battery is losing 30% every morning without anything plugged in. So we googled it what was going on and how to fix it. So we got some information that we need to using out the power first then charge it back on from the AC unit (house wall) and using it empty and charging back on and do it three times but still not fixed the problem. One year using and cost me $1800 how much I paid for it . Hopefully and finger crossed that the other two 700 and 1800 ( this two just for the first backup and emergency use only so we have not tested them out yet)) will not do the same . But I feel like having already lost a faith in this company!

Plus plugs, displays, fans,wires, racks, labor and time that most of us don't have. I paid $3,600 for my Superbase 6400 with 6.4 kw. You can't build cheaper and as nice as this unit.
