"fixed" or not, this game has a bunch of fundamental problems that aren't related to bugs not saying the game's bad though, but still, said problems are overlooked when it comes to all these "remastered" versions which is kinda annoying Like, one example, all the characters have ridiculously low base maximum movement speed, they move like fucking slugs, only times they go relatively fast are dash pannel boosts and Sonic's mach speed sections Like, at least give them their Adventure speed cap or something

While the base movement speeds seems to be slower than the adventure games. I'm okay with p-06 since the spindash is flexible to the player's usage. My guess for why it's slower would be the level design compared to the adventure games seems to prioritize methodical platforming, leaving mach sections to prioritize speed lanes. Whether that was planned from the beginning of Sonic 06 or a result of rushed and mismanaged development, I don't know.

Had the gameplay been good, the questionable story could have been overlooked and this game might have gone down in history as Sonic’s triumphant return. We could have seen Silver return as a playable character in main series games. Don’t get me wrong, Unleashed and most other games since have been really enjoyable (Lost World, Rise Of Lyric and Forces aside), with Unleashed and Generations being some my favourite entries in the series, but games like this and Shadow The Hedgehog are what prevent people from getting into the series, with the misconception that it’s a light-hearted series with edgy stories and glitchy gameplay that only teenage emo boys can like. That’s what I hate about the Sonic fan base, it’s the negative stereotypes.

I'm still confused as to why the released games has less-polished animations. I know that boosting graphics for trailers was common practice, but I can't think of any reason to remove animations, which I would think would take more time and effort than just leaving them in.

There's a theory that the final version we had, was actually an earlier, less finalized build. Because their latest build was unstable on the consoles. But it's just a theory I guess.

@@taliwave1946 I've got two off the top of my head. 1. Like you've said, it wasn't an earlier build. But the final build had a few mishaps they didn't get to test out, which led to animations not playing. 2. The E3 hud was suppose to be in the final game, but that build had it leftover as an older build where it wasn't fully implemented. Unless by E3 HUD you only mean stage title cards. Then that could just be something only prepared for coverage events (E3/TGS). When I look at the E3 demos, while they're not that different. There's little bits that seem a bit more refined by comparison (but that could be imagination).

The development team was split in two, once Sonic Team discovered that the Wii's hardware couldn't support a port of '06. So, all of '06's resources were split, including the budget and staff, all the while keeping the original deadlines that the game was under. Sega DEMANDED that the game be released on his 15th anniversary. So, the remaining Sonic '06 team had to cut a LOT of corners and features in order to meet the deadline, while the other half started working on a separate title for the Wii. BTW, the team that split to make a Wii game created Sonic & the Secret Rings.

Beautiful. I really like 06 for the idea and how the game is good if it BEHAVES. Now, it really does behave. Nice job. Only one fix left, and that's Elise. Here's some notable parts (Not the headings): 0:01. You don't fall into the ocean 0:15. You actually loop. 0:17. Clever fix for the infamous loops. 0:50. Not sure if it was a fix, but OK. 1:10. Sonic still goes invisible, but that's not much. 1:24. Patched the side run section. Smart move. 1:57. You fixed the Bridge! 2:53. Reasonable load times. 4:12. No infinite sticks. Overall, a fantastic mod. One i'll definitely be getting. My only question. Did you patch Silver?

Yeah there are some control improvements, but it’s still pretty awkward to look at, and this looks too similar to normal 06 gameplay (probably given your experience with base 06), so there are probably some things that we don’t get to see that got changed, but I think more work still needs to be done, and some changes probably break the level design. But UGG, that movement speed (it’s faster in scripted sections, but during player control, it needs work).

I really feel like, out of everything, they should have kept the mach speed sections in Sonic 06. They're actually a fairly neat addition, where you move faster than normal on a mostly straight level, dodging obstacles and enemies. Would give some more variety to what SEGA can do with the boost formula too I think. The bounce maneuver here and the double jump from Colors should also become part of Sonic's standard moveset. I would say the Spin Dash too but it isn't really needed so long as they keep the Sonic Boost (which, while worse in appearance, works much better than the Spin Dash in every other way).

I think there are some things I dislike about it. Bounce attack recovery doesn't make much sense. In previous Sonic games, it punishes you for getting hit and makes you stagger and slow down. Getting through flawlessly rewards you with progression. Like why remove Tails's flight limit. Makes sense in-universe and is within previous games and makes it kinda broken. Jumping in mach speed doesn't make too much sense and as the game is trying to be semi-realistic it wouldn't make very much sense but it somewhat kin to Sonic's movement. It's whether if it works in mach speed. You can maybe get away with the board air movement because in classic Sonic it's 2D so there isn't a need for direction change. SA2 took a less realistic approach. Because 06 is going for a semi-realistic approach it wouldn't make too much sense.
