yea sometimes it just all comes together! 100's of hours of floating around looking at nothing! lol. but yes Ive seem them! absolutely amazing! I went to that area of Fiji a few years back but my captain left the day before I got there because his wife went into labor so I was there without a boat for 17 days!

@@KeyWestWaterman At Palapas Ventana (Tim Hatler's place) I floated for hours. Had 2 chances and fucked up. After a miss I had one looking over my shoulder while I was reloading :) - later I was bored and decided to hang out at 30 ft. one swam right up to my wife while I was down ha ha crazy fish. Shot many large KM but never got a hoo.

Do you only use flashers for the blue water spearing or chum as well? I dive a lot in the keys mostly off big pine and a wahoo is on the bucket list. Would love it hit one this winter
@KeyWestWaterman4 жыл бұрын
I hardly ever chum because of the shark issue! but a lot of the guys do. I have plenty of success with just flashers but still chum from time to time.

Hello im wondering if theres any exercise you can do to increase breath hold outside of water? Like i have been running ab 2 miles everyday i dont know if that helps to be honest? Wanted to come here and ask since you do it way more than i.
@KeyWestWaterman4 жыл бұрын
any type of cardio is the best you can do! there is an app called stamina that helps you do "breathing tables" along with running and cardio work outs it should help increase you're breath hold! once you get more advanced into free diving and breath training there are a lot more complex exercises and trainings you can do.

Congrats on the wahoo! I have never spearfished bluewater before... but from what I see folks don't really need to dive deep in blue water at all? Most of the shots I see are shot either from snorkelling position or maybe 30 feet dive max. Is it true when they say that you don't really need to be a really good diver to hunt bluewater? As opposed to hunting in deep reefs.
@KeyWestWaterman4 жыл бұрын
yea typically Bluewater shots are shallower 30-40 ft, but that does not mean someone without experience should attempt Bluewater, its just as dangerous if not more than reef hunting, the float lines throw in an added risk. It is easy to get wrapped in your line while fighting a fish and if a shark grabs the other end it can go south quick. line management and working together is a must while hunting Bluewater. typically the fish you are shooting are much bigger and a lot more powerful. Hope that helps!
