It is such a nice work, and I'm learning a lot. But how du you determine the position of the stringers? Is there some rules, a system or is is just a feeling. I have a set of plans for a stripbuilt canoe that I try to change to skin on frame

Steffen Krøyer oh yes, the stringer's position. I use 5 stringers for one side. I begin in the mid section. I fix the first stringer nearly at the cwl ( construction water line) . The next two above and under the first. Here I'm looking for good chines. There are about 8 cm space. The fourth and fifth comes nearly in the middle between the second stringer and the gunnels / the third an the keel. After the it goes in a smooth line to the stems. I do this with my eyes....

I’m watching this series of videos for the third time. There is so much great information here! Do you have to steam bend the inner and outer gunwales? There is a complex curve there with the sheer (up and down) and the actual shape of the boat (side to side). I see the notches in the malls. Is that all you use for a form for the gunwales? Please forgive me for asking another question so soon.

ChipsterB oh no problem, you can ask what you want... The inner and outer gunwales are also pre-bent. I put they in a long plastic pipe an fill in boiling water. Wait about one hour and fix it for drying in shape at the side walls of the strongback...
