Sir, you build a VERY FINE BOAT! I appreciate your efforts to make your videos somewhat bilingual. The visual images and subtitles are very helpful. I feel that boat building is a magical blend of tradition, innovation, skill and art. I can see that you put a great deal of methodical thought and care into your craft and art. I have also been afflicted with the love of canoes... and have been so since the days of my youth. Spending time on the water traveling through the wild parts of North America (where I am from) has had a lot to do with that. I do not have a skin on frame canoe yet. I intend to build two solo Canoes for open water. My wife and I will be using them on lakes and large rivers most of the time and must often contend with the wind. Thank you.

Spectacular! Your work appeals to my German gene pool. I'm in the process of lashing all my ribs on a 16' canoe build and will be moving on to covering with nylon fabric next. I noticed that in this video you show stapling the ballistic nylon, and in another later video you are using hot glue? Could you please give me the order of procedures you are currently using...like hanging in fabric, applying hot glue to gunnels, stitching fabric tight, ironing to gunnels, and then stapling to gunnels. Your videos have already helped me with several steps making the process much more efficient! Thanks again.

buttskid hisey the hot glue is only for prefixing the fabric after stiching. I melt the hot glue with the iron. ironing the hole fabric for shrinking is AFTER mounting the gunwales.

The threads are made of 1mm polypropylene. You can also use braided fishing line. The nylon is available at: www.extremtextil.de I wish you good success by building your canoe!
