Ya never know what works for ya till you try it. I got the Iridium thinking the classic channel was gonna be my thing after watching many video demo's. Turns out my favorite is the Vintage. It sounds very full and open. With the other gear I use, the Vintage just fits perfectly. Is the Vintage channel the same voicing on the Mercury?
@BluGuitar6 ай бұрын
It’s different voicing, but similar character. You’ll love it too!

Man that gold top sounds great. Amazing tone as usual. I think the amp 1 will have to be my next amp for MAJIK BAND. You are winning me over with pure glorious rock riffs. Thanks for sharing your skills with us all.

My next project is converting my 65' bandmaster to a 63' bassman with some Marshall like mods like a mids control. Then I want to have my tech build a 100 watt 68' JMP with an output transformer, from Marstran, wound to VH spec. Basically all of my amps will be part of the Marshall family.

Such a good amp. Happy 40th birthday to my trusty 2203 100W Top and 4 x 12 Cabinet. Yibbieh 😃✌🏼

That 2203 is a real Classic-working for so many styles and in combination with so many guitars and pedals. With the right settings I believe AMP1 is so close that you couldn’t tell a difference… ;-)

@@BluGuitar Might be. Never had the opportunity to check this. Which version of the AMP1 would be the closest to the JCM 800 in your opinion?

@@BluGuitar great. By the way, I just got my amp 1 this week. I've been looking at them for ages but a recent cab purchase was the catalyst that finally pushed me to get one

Great stuff, as always. Sorry but the Amp1 doesn't have that gnarly, pissed of in your face bark. Comes close but not there- which is fine. Different tools for different needs ;-) My favorite setup for years: Les Paul, SD1, JCM 800. Instant rockness🤘 Zakk Wylde OD is a copy of the Boss SD1. Interesting fact: plug some young modeler guy into a JCM, have a beer and watch the scenery. You'll have a good laugh 😂
@BluGuitar3 жыл бұрын
That white JCM 800 I could get so close that no one could tell any difference anymore… there’s even a big laughing from the video team as they couldn’t believe it. And these 2 guys did it the very first time, so they didn’t know or where biased… Instant rockness!!!! I like 👍 your words!!! Yes, these amps feel totally different from modelers… ;-)

@@BluGuitar thanks for your reply. Maybe it just doesn't translate in the video. I've used the first amp 1 and to me it feels more modern and rounder around the edges as my JCMs. Not as rough. Anyways, great work👍

I heard a Friedman Dirty Shirley recently and just loved it. I discovered that it is basically a JCM800 preamp with a JTM45 power section. I am thinking of modding my 67'JTM50 build to that spec, but I am worried that adding a master volume and changing the front end may take away some of the character of this great head. I love the amp so much. The DS40 has this added punch and string seperation that I also very much want. I am trying to decide whether or not to do the mod. I can't afford a DS40 yet I don't want to regret modding my beloved vintage spec JTM. Any thoughts? Youre modded Black Flag sounds awesome, BTW!

I was always a practical guy. In my world Tone comes first. So I didn’t care too much about „mint condition“. But I always tried to not drill holes in such an iconic amp chassis…! Same with my 1961 Strat: I put a push push switch for my dummy coil in it, and saved that original pot. Maybe you can date some things when finding peace of mind if you still have a way back… To me the question always is: do I really need it or am I just curious. If I’m just curious I have a Marshall eg that only there to try out things. It’s a Plexi reissue. The only thing I do not touch is my original „collectors grade“ Strat from 1964. But I’m not using that guitar very much either.. why? Because it’s lacking my mods… ?!?! I hope you are not doing anything you would regret later ???!?! Greetings, Thomas

Hi Thomas, your xvive golden brownie(jcm800 type pedal)... was it designed into a clean fendery amp to sound like a marshall?

Yes it works in front of totally clean amps as well as slightly overdriven amps…

Hi Thomas! What's the lifetime of the nanotube? Is it easy to change? Thanks
@BluGuitar3 жыл бұрын
The lifespan of the nanotube is longer then our lives (by Russian military specs). So no worries! So far we didn’t have a single failure in an AMP1.!!! Therefore it’s soldered to the pcb board which increases the reliability: no socket and corrosion… “maybe the most reliable component” on the AMP1- see our socker video where we used an AMP1 as a football ;-) kzbin.info/www/bejne/kH7SpKyYfZd7jq8 BluGuitar gets Euro 2020 fever... and AMP1 gets a road test!

--- Pete Townshend is truly not a Marshall guy, contrary to your portrayal. He used them briefly in the early days to generate more volume. He still calls the sound "awful" today. The great studio sounds you love about him all came from Fender amps. Live, he switched to the famous Highwatt DR103 SuperWHO very early on. Highwatts were still very clean even fully cranked up, which is why he used a fuzz pedal live.
