Alex James what a fabulous bass. All my favourite blur tracks have amazing basslines by Alex. Repetitive, sublime, catchy.

Blur was actually doing a lot of interesting stuff before Leisure was being strung together. Their record label, or a specific manager/executive, pretty much forced them to repress their creativity a bit and be more like the Madchester bands. Uncle Love, Berserk, Shimmer, Mr Briggs, and Luminous are just a portion of the more interesting songs of the period that never made the album. Heck, even the awesome hidden tracks on Modern Life Is Rubbish were actually written and played before Leisure came out.
@yasminx164 жыл бұрын
K-leb it’s a shame because, as much as there are some fantastic tracks of leisure (ie there’s no other way, sing and bang), there’s filler that could have been easily swapped with MLIR bsides - they’re far superior!
@rubyrue695 жыл бұрын
the version on leisure sounds much more sad but this version sounds like a version you'd expect to hear near the end of a movie or something.

I agree. As blur they are just…so special. I wish they would continue with blur. There is an ageless muscial partnership inside the blur dynamics that just isnt there as individual artists. Albarn & Coxon are special together. Seriously special.

Although the other version definitely has more emotion and the bass is absolutely amazing, this version definitely has some really interesting elements. The 'off' notes in this version gives it a completely different dynamic. Fantastic!!

Yeah I love how dissonant the piano is in this version. Really adds a level of tension to the lyrics.

Alex James' s bass in the official blur recording is really incredible, but there is something very special about the Seymour version that I adore. All in all, its one of their best tracks.

I love Sing as it is, but holy moly this demo is also fantastic. It's hard for me to choose at this point...I kinda want this to be the official version, but I also want the official version to be the official version. Either way, I think this demo arrangement would definitely be funner to play live.

My favorite Blur song! Such an avant-garde piece of music for the time. As Sing was left of the US version of Liesure many thought of this as a 'new' track when "Trainspotting" hit. It was so different, and in line with their, then, more experimental work. Amazing to find out that the song has even older origins! I love this demo....
