I remember being 9 years old when this song came on MTV in 1999. Me and my parents sat in the front room admiring this video. Mum says 'is there anyway we can watch this again? Its amazingly cute!' That was impossible back then. I innocently explained that we'd just have to wait for MTV to play it again. Here I am over twenty years later and 30 years old watching it easily and for free on youtube. Parents split up years ago, but these old memories linger. Funny how things change. Great track.

@melvinfz03012 жыл бұрын

Such inventive guitar playing, an absolutely sick rhythm section, and the killer front man. I've listened to guitar players all my life and Graham is right up there as far as having a distinct style unlike any other. Guys like Jeff Beck and Eddie Van Halen have their own thing and Graham is right there if the barometer is uniqueness. So glad I finally got around to appreciating just how great this band is.

Now is so sad for me to watch this cute video. That's why: I remember I was 7 years old in 1999 and I watched this video on MTV so many times. Me and my sister were so impressive by it! Especially by the saddest moment at final scene when milks fly away together. And then our favourite family dog had been deadly poisoned by burglaries, he died after 4 days, my sister said me : "Now our good boy flies away like this milk". And I still miss him very bad. His name was Malysh ("Little boy" on Russian language). Havanese bichon by breed. And since that case i can't watch this music video without tears. Inspite of this, this is the best musiс video ever! There were so many brilliant songs and great videos released in 1999, like this. Thank you, Blur for this video!!

I've always loved Graham's guitar solos in this. The song constantly walks a tightrope of some really dark stuff about alcoholism and the hope of defeating it. It feels like, behind the jangly rhythm guitars, the major chords (when they come), the twinkly keyboard, and the mantra of "we can start over again", the solos are the broken self he wants to leave behind and which never really disappear. I don't think it ever feels fully resolved which side is going to come out on top.

This song is really difficult for me to listen to sometimes... I absolutely adore it and it's so wonderful but it represents a really difficult period of my life when I was struck down by a deep, dark depression in 1999 at the ridiculously young age of 11. I just woke up one morning on holiday in Ireland feeling absolutely gut-wrenchingly awful and I don't think I've ever felt right again since. I remember listening to this song on repeat and just feeling so sad. It's such a masterpiece of a song though
