I remember being 9 years old when this song came on MTV in 1999. Me and my parents sat in the front room admiring this video. Mum says 'is there anyway we can watch this again? Its amazingly cute!' That was impossible back then. I innocently explained that we'd just have to wait for MTV to play it again. Here I am over twenty years later and 30 years old watching it easily and for free on youtube. Parents split up years ago, but these old memories linger. Funny how things change. Great track.

Sorry to hear about your parents..I was also 9 year old back in 1999 and had to wait for songs to play again. Although the "popular" songs were ridiculously overplayed..rather than these songs. Miss those Mtv days.

I'm the same age as you, 9 in 1999 and this reminds me of weekends at my dads. Some music channels you could call in and request what video they play so you knew it would come on soon. I loved this one as a kid. And the prodigy, Keith flint used to scare my little brother lol. And the verve bitter sweet symphony where he just walks down the street in a straight line over obstacles and making people dodge out his way or knocking into them

Hell there is SOOO much great music from that era I'm excited for the kids who are just now finding it and listening to it for the first time. Could you imagine what it would be like to listen to Nevermind or In Utero for the first time again right now?

Songs like this are why Blur was always great to me. From their early days (although Leisure is my least favorite album of theirs) right up to their revival with _The Magic Whip_, they've always struck some kind of valuable metal, in my eyes. I am now 36 and have 2 kids and I am very happy but every time this song comes on it makes me think of my best friend and I can’t help but to tear up a little. The 90s truly were the best decade

This song has a lot of sentimental value to me. It's a song I always go back to when things are looking down and I need a little relief, like things aren't going to be as bad as I've already decided they will be. What a sweet video! Boy returns to family and milk cartons find love in the afterlife. I totally missed out on Blur in the day and now at 57 they're blowing what's left of my mind. Such inventive guitar playing, an absolutely sick rhythm section, and the killer front man. I've listened to guitar players all my life and Graham is right up there as far as having a distinct style unlike any other. Guys like Jeff Beck and Eddie Van Halen have their own thing and Graham is right there if the barometer is uniqueness. So glad I finally got around to appreciating just how great this band is.

Now is so sad for me to watch this cute video. That's why: I remember I was 7 years old in 1999 and I watched this video on MTV so many times. Me and my sister were so impressive by it! Especially by the saddest moment at final scene when milks fly away together. And then our favourite family dog had been deadly poisoned by burglaries, he died after 4 days, my sister said me : "Now our good boy flies away like this milk". And I still miss him very bad. His name was Malysh ("Little boy" on Russian language). Havanese bichon by breed. And since that case i can't watch this music video without tears. Inspite of this, this is the best musiс video ever! There were so many brilliant songs and great videos released in 1999, like this. Thank you, Blur for this video!!

I've always loved Graham's guitar solos in this. The song constantly walks a tightrope of some really dark stuff about alcoholism and the hope of defeating it. It feels like, behind the jangly rhythm guitars, the major chords (when they come), the twinkly keyboard, and the mantra of "we can start over again", the solos are the broken self he wants to leave behind and which never really disappear. I don't think it ever feels fully resolved which side is going to come out on top.

Do you go to the country It isn't very far There's people there who'll hurt you 'cos of who you are Your ears are full of their language There's wisdom there you're sure 'till the words start swirling/slurring And you can't find the door Chorus (x2) So give me coffee and tv Peacefully I've seen so much, i'm going blind And i'm brain-dead virtually Sociability Is hard enough for me Take me away from this big bad world And agree to marry me So we can start over again. This song is really difficult for me to listen to sometimes... I absolutely adore it and it's so wonderful but it represents a really difficult period of my life when I was struck down by a deep, dark depression in 1999 at the ridiculously young age of 11. I just woke up one morning on holiday in Ireland feeling absolutely gut-wrenchingly awful and I don't think I've ever felt right again since. I remember listening to this song on repeat and just feeling so sad. It's such a masterpiece of a song though

Practically floored One of many zeros Kicked around, bored Your ears are full but you're empty Holding out your heart To people who never really Care how you are [Chorus] So give me coffee and TV, easily I've seen so much, I'm going blind And I'm braindead virtually Sociability, it's hard enough for me Take me away from this big, bad world And agree to marry me So we can start over again [Verse 2] Do you go to the country? It isn't very far There's people there who will hurt you Because of who you are Your ears are full of the language There's wisdom there, you're sure Until the words start slurring And you can't find the door [Chorus] So give me coffee and TV, easily I've seen so much, I'm going blind And I'm braindead virtually Sociability, it's hard enough for me Take me away from this big, bad world And agree to marry me So we can start over again [Instrumental bridge] [Chorus] So give me coffee and TV, easily I've seen so much, I'm going blind And I'm braindead virtually Sociability, it's hard enough for me Take me away from this big, bad world And agree to marry me So we can start over again [Outro] Oh, we could start over again Oh, we could start over again Oh, we could start over again Oh, we could start over again

this song makes me cry everytime i listen to it for some reason. i guess it just provides a sense of nostalgia that i’ve never really felt before.
