Blurb vs Lulu: Overpriced or Underrated?

Really great information! I've heard Lulu is best to use with Shopify when doing direct sales from a website. I'm also glad to see how you promoted the fantasy author sign up because that helps me figure out how to talk about it in my next video.

Thank you for sharing this! I just received my journal project from gelato. I tried my hand at making them with their photobook format but turns out that the copy I got from Lulu worked better for the project I have in mind. I'm new to the print on demand market and all of the bad experiences people have had with Lulu made me take a few steps back. I feel open to consider them again after watching this video though

Wonderful! As with everything, not every option will work for everybody. It's my mission to share the options, a few opinions, and then let you make an informed decision based on that. I heard from both sides: people who LOVE Lulu and people who despise Lulu. In business, that's going to happen.

Hi Dale! Question - If you use D2D, Kobo and publish directly to B&N as well, and then want to try Blurb or Lulu does this mean that you have 4 copies of your book on B&N (since they are all aggregates)? And if so, how do they know which place to pay the royalties too?

Deselect distribution to B&N through D2D. As for Lulu, if you deselect their "extended distribution" then you'll skip listing it on B&N. Sadly, you lose out on thousands of other avenues. As for Blurb, check to see if they'll allow you to deselect B&N. I THINK it might be an all or nothing type thing like Lulu. I hope that helps! By the way, I always love hearing from you. If you need a more hands-on approach, look into BookBaby. They come at a higher premium, but will do a lot of the stuff for you. Keep in mind, that it's NOT free, so be prepared to pay a substantial amount with them.

I was just thinking about NFT's for books because there's another crypto company that does it but for comics. I'm glad you're cool with it because people are just pitchforks ready for war when it comes to NFT's. I want to do it where if there's a second edition of my books the NFT ebook will be the first edition.

I try keeping an open mind about things. We'll see how NFTs play out over the next decade. I'm sure it'll grow exponentially.
