This brings up a subject I have often wondered about. How is Tempt and Test used differently? For example, James writes: Jas 1:13 - Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man: We know from reading the scriptures that God tempts people all the time. Gen. 22:1 - And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am. To say nothing of that Tree in the Garden of Eden. Paul puts temptation into perspective when he writes: Rom. 7:9 - For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died. In other words, if you want to tempt someone to do something then command him NOT to do it. What, therefore, are the Ten Commandments? It seems like anyone who says that God doesn't tempt us has either not lived all that long or certainly hasn't been paying attention. Temptation is the condition of life. Even God is tempted. This video is great because it sheds important light on a subject that is of great interest to me. What is testing, tempting, proving, examining, etc.? I think James's theology is pretty weak.

Very helpful, and encouraging. This is the exact line of thought I've been having as I do word studies. The most profound revelation I have come across so far is the usage of aion. It's a deep and multi-layered word, but it does have one generalized meaning that helps ground it: Age. I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on it and how it applies in the context of eternal life and eternal hellfire.

I have been looking at Strong's #1344 δικαιόω. Now I know this is just a single form of a much larger meaning but I have a problem with God 'declaring' anyone something that is a lie, even a temporary lie. So I support the word meaning right/make or made righteous. It is interesting in Thayer's lexicon he speaks how Blind/make and slave/make have the same (omicron omega) ending as δικαιόω but then he turns around and denies logic because it doesn't fit his theological narrative. God help me not 'force the puzzle' as so many people do. I mean how kids do when a puzzle piece doesn't fit as they would like so they try to force it into place, God help us all avoid this childish tendency. We can trust the harmony of scripture to PROVE truth:)

Yes the true spiritual meanings can NOT be forced,,, These hidden meanings have to be unlocked via gnosis, which isa experienced way of understanding, someone who HAS BEEN TESTED IN MANY WAYS,, He has authority to teach the scriptures, There ae ,,,ohhh about 100+ key terms /ideas in the NT that are super critical for exgesis, I have my Vines dictionary arriving today. I have recently been studying the Kingdom of God and have concluded that testing is one of the 12 acts of the divine rule. It is found on nearly every page of scripture either explicitly or implicitly, the perspective is before the throne of God like Job, for the purpose of determining covenant loyalty. Covenant making is another one of the 12 acts of the divine rule. Testing is conceptually related to the inverse idea of putting God to the test. It is through many tribulations we enter the kingdom of God. Thanks for the educational video.

I am very grateful to God and to you for this initiative. I have encountered similar challenges as well. My recent dilema pertains to Ephesians 1:18. Please Which is the actual/original Greek word used there in the original/authentic Greek NT manuscript ? Is it "dianoia"- (mind) or is it "kardia" - (heart) ? Thank you sir. Shalom

I know I'm a little late to this but I really like to know 1135 in the strong concordance means woman or wife but the root word is to become or something created. Can you explain why the root word differs from the derivative so much?

Hi Daryl, nice video, you always put out great stuff! :) Just wanted to ask you, outside of the New Testament, what can I read in Koine Greek to further improve my Koine? I really want to read from the patristics like John Chrysostom and Athanasius (both to improve my Greek as well as to learn from them) but I can't seem to find readily available and relaible Greek texts for anything outside the New Testament. What would you recommend? Also, how different is the Greek from the New Testament to a later period such as the early church fathers as well as to an earlier period like the philosophers before Christ? I know this is a lot, but any help will be much appreciated, thank you! :)
