I love this. Reminds me of back in the day when they would run bad hot and you used a spray bottle to cool down ignition module and the car would run fine. Great job. Fixed is fixed.

Interesting fix although I have seen many times boxes or components in my field of knowledge be affected by heat and cold . Glad to see it worked out for you. Thanks for keeping us updated and you and family have an enjoyable weekend. 😊

Yeah I am glad too. I have had some faults with othe older style ( late 90s) that this testing led the way. Have a good weekend. 👍

Great diag! I use a vortex tube, uses shop air, blow cold on one side and hot on the other. Either way you did a hell of a diagnostic.

This was a fantastic video, Brian. I appreciate your skills in relaying your diagnostic process with us. I’m about to start my module programming service, so I’m trying to absorb as much as possible (and will probably be joining your membership program).

Brian to cool down use a fridge or they sell some spray to clean computers that is very cold
@BrianMann2162 жыл бұрын
Yeah the fridge worked , I was just trying to show(for myself) without disturbing/ unplugging the ecm .. the can spray would probably do it, was thinking about cracking a referral container like the old days🤔🤣

I am really wondering what exactly the failure point is within the ECM.

CRC makes a Freeze Spray . - 60° F . You can probably find some competitors if it's not available locally . Dry Ice may be another option . Great diagnosis and fix .

I am pretty sure there is some cold spray in a can for situations like this. My question is : what made you decide to put the pcm in the fridge? Experience or was it some other clue? Is there a pcm data pid for internal pcm temperature?
@BrianMann2162 жыл бұрын
Maf signal at the pcm and the maf the same with no increase in frequency had me thinking it had ti be inside the pcm. It was cold outside the 1st time it acted up for me for a while. At one point I realized I was out of options and went old school..
