This album definitely requires a couple listens to fully grasp. After more listens, Pleasures-Virtual Function became my favorite section of the album. It’s definitely lengthy but I think after enough time with each song there’s enough interesting parts to keep things interesting.

I hope Darko keeps going and going. Shit's wild. Remember gang, if groups don't do weird shit like this that might be borderline un-enjoyable for some people, other groups now/down the line wouldn't have diverse/experimental stuff to pick through and expand upon any small cool/new/unique concepts/sounds that otherwise wouldn't have been discovered. It's a cycle. Get influenced/inspired, conceptualize, execute, learn, repeat. Double kick was a dumb idea at first because it was a new idea, like most things, but now it's a cornerstone of genres (with an 's'). I think Darko is well aware they can easily make a traditional song, most people can, it really isn't hard. Darko has passages of that type of stuff just so they can pull you off course. Stop listening to the songs like "songs" and follow the motion of the moves they're making with their decisions of when/where/why they're switching it up yet again.

This and Boundaires are my AOTY contenders in the core scene along with Knocked Loose and Enterprise Earth. Outside of Core, I’d recommend Volcandra (blackened death), infant island (blckgaze), zombieshark (Cybergrind), frail body (post hardcore, screamo), inter arma (psychedelic sludge), glassing (post-metal, gaze), thou (post-metal).

Album started out as a 6 or a weak 7/10 but it very quickly became my favorite with repeat listening, there's so much to catch that you really can't pick out the first or second time you listen to the album and there's so much shit they've done really well. Sora is incredible and kind of feels like they've just mastered a different genre by accident Virtual Function is incredible despite me not liking the feature on it, I'm just a huge sucker for strings in heavy music and they've executed that ending so well The album came in with 2 of their best singles and at this point I don't even listen to them as much anymore because of the newer stuff If you throw out the 16s track, Mother which is purely an album thing and Cry Baby which so far just hasn't clicked for me this is a 9.5 Album for me

i personally like the softer tracks a lot more than the heavy ones, the heavy ones dont feel too different than anything theyve already made apart from some of the production/sound choices but a very solid album indeed i like how there is a lot of variety. 7.5/10 as a full album for me but 5D is just something SPECIAL thats easily the best song of the album

I didn't listen to the album on my own, just this cut up version and I STILL got fatigued half way in. Almost everything here is stellar, but there's TOO MUCH of it, to the point where some songs lose identity and clarity by the 13th fucking switch up and you realize the song has 3 minutes left. Exaggerating and maybe its a cleaner experience in full, but still. Just let me breath man holy fuck lmao. Also the chat did mention the samey guitar and when some cool shit is going on in the background you just sometimes blank them out because its just in the way. light 6 to a strong 10

19 tracks and nearly an hour and 15 minutes is too much. Plus a decent amount of the tracks are kind of forgettable. There are some bangers on the record but as a whole, it didn’t hit as hard as most stuff from Darko does. Edit: After listening to the album a few more times I’m noticing that most songs are really good it’s just the overall experience of listening to the album as a whole seems borderline unenjoyable to me.
