Iteration 1: extremely funny. Iteration 2: music is normal, but the screen is magenta and the game is not alright. Iteration 3: seems normal, but if you touch enemies, you do not die. Iteration 4: seems normal. ... Iteration 10: seems normal but if you enter the pipe, something just corrupted & you die.

That would be basically impossible to do, as I don't use game genie for any of these videos. The emulator I use corrurently, however, is Bizhawk. (though I believe I used FCEUX for this particular video) Though I don't use game genie, I do have the ROMs on hand if you would want those. :)

With 8 and 16 bit consoles, music is synthesized, so it's essentially code like the rest of the game, so just like how corrupted gameplay can still resemble the game, so can the music of said game.

i don't really understand how the corrupted part chooses which song to synthesize and how to synthesize, although i think it's random since really there are many ways music can be corrupted, and it wasn't even intended to be accessed.

any changes to the code can have unpredictable effects. Usually which song it decides to run at any given time is determined by a value in RAM.

in the original super mario bros, sometimes certain text that might appear at any given time anywhere (like a large string of zeroes in the sky) could also be certain values in ram, right?
