i like it, also add to the meme of being from the few elites with a "forklift operator license" . but in serious theme, is nice that VR can be a helpful tool to teach the basics of operating heavy machinery without risking the company assets or personnel.

They all are exept the manga one😅 the reason they're expensive is because the target market is governments, hospitals and construction industries, they're not games

The Welding sim should have pipe Welding, under water Welding all kinds of places and situations for a 1000$ it should be so much more then it is. It's not even a sim really if it was, you would have burned through the metal with inexperience. If that's not possible, it's a game that is crap at best, lol. No wire speed adjustment or amperage. This is as far from a Welding sim as they could get lol. You could literally buy crappy entry level mig tig and stick welder and a plasma cutter for a 1000$ and learn way more hands on experience then this game could ever offer.

The reason these are more expensive programs is because they teach you a trade. They are not for the average person they are meant for people who are trying to learn a specific skill that they can earn money with- some gamer trying to start off with an expert whelmed without even taking any of the training. Obviously it’s not gonna feel worth it for you however, if you’re going to trade school and you want to be a welder because it pays very well. This is probably well worth the money for you… Not every VR experience is meant for gamers

I use a millermatic 200 welding machine (capable of doing all three methods) for my job and just the machine alone costs nearly $4,000. Took me years of training and experiences to weld nice without holes for clients. Also you gotta pay for the gas, rods or sticks for the job. Not to mention a decent welding hood and gloves. I could see this simulator for teachers in a welding class kinda just introducing new welders to technique and without the danger of burning yourself or your retinas. But me as veteran welder and a vr gamer? Yeah I'm with you, I wouldn't buy it either lol

As others have noted, 4 of these are not games but rather training sims. The welding one was very disappointing. You didn't know what the end-graphs meant, but the sim should have told you. No way that waving the "torch" the way you did would create a valid weld. The two medical ones were super interesting to me, the medical suite and fetal heart training. It would be great if the app also gave training and later tested you on your knowledge. If they were cheaper I could see gamers and interested folks wanting to try these just to learn something new. Okay, maybe not learn in-depth, but to get an understanding of what's going on. For me it's just interesting to see how the corporate world could use VR for training like this, as usually we are just told that it is happening, but I never get to see an example. Thanks for a "different" sort of VR video.

To be fair... None of these are games. Corporate training models are always going to be more expensive because they have a limited, corporate market. They're not designed to be fun. They're designed to be practical and hyper realistic. So this isn't really an accurate overview of expensive 'games'.

Respectfully, I feel your approach was all wrong. Simulators are not games. Rather than taking a derisive position of "Let's see if these games are worth it,..." a better approach would be excitement that inexpensive VR has reached the point where it can be a legitimate and very helpful simulator. Forklift operation and certification are taken VERY seriously by companies. I know from experience. It's boring as hell to need to inspect a forklift every time before you operate it. Safety is boring. Also sorta important. Most purchases of these apps are done by companies, not individuals. $80 for the Forklift is nothing for a company. Play Gerry's mod if you want a game.
@robpayne19568 күн бұрын
There are a few other things that are very boring and completely necessary such as the walk around and checking everything on an 18 wheeler and the mandatory walk around every pilot must do to inspect their airplane before they even start it and the check lists you must do before starting the engine. But without them accidents could happen. And we don't want an airplane crash or a transport truck accident on the highway. Safety is always first in all these professions.

Dang....those apps/experiences are quite interesting for the cost. Pretty much still too basic for what you pay. I know they are niche within niche of VR, but still >>> $999 for that basic welding app is crazy...it should look nearly real life and be way more interactive and explaining a bunch more as you go.
@konchu26 күн бұрын
I get on a software they will not likely sell 10s or 100s of copies a 1000 isn't really bad if the simulation is good. Kinda like a flight simulator you use to get hours of experience without the risk. Or other materials needed to study it may be cheaper to go this way for a business. Now if it was a decent simulator and the price was cheaper me as a hobbyist might buy. You have to look at the time to make and the amount you can sell to really justify the price.

That welding simulator was a scam. For $1000 you could buy a gas-less hobby mig/stick welder and some scrap metal for under $500. teach yourself to weld, have an absolute blast, and if you thought it was something you really wanted to invest in learning take the money left over and put it towards real training. I don't even know why you would bother to simulate such a thing??? even for industry when it is so cheap and safe to do the real thing.
@o0Silverwolf0o27 күн бұрын
Other then the manga experience. These are all training programs and might make sense, even at $1000 in a short time it would pay for itself in the cost savings of materials and fuel that would normally be used to do early training.
