Would’ve been awesome to ride an R160 running along the Williamsburg or Manhattan Bridges with the Twin Towers in the Lower Manhattan skyline, had 9/11 never happened. Real shame that the only New Techs that coexisted with the original WTC were the R142/A’s (and no, the R110’s don’t count, because those trains were prototypes). Sure, the R143 may have been delivered and was in early testing in 2001, but that was only just months before 9/11. The R143’s didn’t enter service until sometime between December 2001-February 2002. The R160’s, R188’s, R179’s, and soon the R211’s respectively, wouldn’t be constructed until many years after the demise of the Twin Towers
