It was fun watching you guys describe BMT and hearing how it is now! I went through in 1980; some things are the same, and some I guess are different now. The squadron numbers were different, we were only there for six weeks or so. There were 2 TI's and one stayed with you all the first week. I do wish we could have trained like they do now; more emphasis on combat and so, but it was still a great experience! Thanks for sharing yours!

Here is a tip, if the majority of people have things squared away you may not be inspected on it. MTI's lock on to trouble areas that need attention.

10/10 for the collaboration. I would definitely recommend getting people together like this more often to give advice about the beginning steps of the Air Force process. :)

I was chosen by my MTI to be a chow runner. I was scared at first, but it was actually very fun! They had me as chow runner for the first half of BMT then they had me train somebody else.

this is probably a weird question but im just curious so here we go... at bmt was there any guys that were chunky or fatter than everyone else? dont get me wrong i dont mean overweight or anything like that. cuz im a bigger dude and I ship in 20 days and im kinda nervous about getting left behind at BMT, if that makes sense?
@Sk8Gnarley7 жыл бұрын
IntrepidSF in our flight we had a guy who couldnt even do 1 puch up on his pt test and he ended up graduating along side all of us. There were a few bigger people in my flight and the same for other flights, if you put in the work you will be just fine. Im not a fast runner and one thing at bmt I felt pressure from was running with peers because a lot of them were really fast and I always felt behind but you just have to learn how to move past that and focus on yourself and improving if that is the case ya know? Just be comfortable in your own skin, remember why you are there and that it is temporary and do whatever it takes to stay positive amongst others who are being negative. Good luck youll be fine!

What do you mean by " Disneyland and Alcatraz "? My son is in the 331st.
@Sk8Gnarley7 жыл бұрын
Patrick Godoy yes just like Lucas said Disney land are the new dorms which the 331st is one of them, thats the wolfpack I believe. Alcatraz is the old dorms which is the 322nd and 324th
@patrickgodoy60597 жыл бұрын
Yes, the 331st is the Wolfpack. Would the 320 TRS be considered Alcatraz? Thanks guys. Oh btw, my son is in beast week this week.
@Sk8Gnarley7 жыл бұрын
Patrick Godoy beast nice! He's probably sweating through his clothes, the 322nd and the 324th are the only operational Alcatraz dorms right now

Ship tomorrow 😎, btw I'm not going open aptitude but do you know what it's like or how it works ?
@Sk8Gnarley7 жыл бұрын
so basically you are gonna go through BMT and eventually at some point your flight will have a career appointment where you will go and talk to some people about what jobs you wanna do or something like that. Im pretty sure you submit a list while you are there and you dont find out what job you get until the last or 2nd to last week of training but thats about all I know. Good luck though! Make it count and just try to lay low, have a good time, and just stay as positive as you can dont let anyone drag you down!

I've been using your videos a lot lately since I wanna go for a cyber job once I talk to the recruiter, so thank you! I have a weird question that maybe you could help me with. How did BAH work while you were in basic? I'm in the same boat and I'm not sure if my wife and I should open up a joint bank account or if it will just be mailed to her while I'm away. Thanks again man, keep uploading!
@Sk8Gnarley7 жыл бұрын
Well for one the military never mails you a paycheck it is always direct deposit. You get your BAH when you graduate. When I graduated it happened to be a pay day and I got about a $4000 check. Thanks for the comment!! I appreciate you!

And people make shanks?! What the fuck lol
@Sk8Gnarley7 жыл бұрын
People dont actually hurt each other on a regular basis that was just a one time thing at med hold/airmans holdover. The toilet paper thing wasn't so bad because baby wipes get the job done better anyways lol there is literally no need to be nervous for bmt though just do what they say, do the best you can and get out

it was cool till the end. but the end made yall sound like true 19-20 yr olds. always be proud to be serving. ive been in civilian life for 8 years with two kids and a wife. life with little pay, long hours, and shit insurance. i find it sad that you aren’t hardcore about being in 1% of the population to give life to serve. when you grow up... you’ll get it

the best advise about the military is to keep your mouth shut and your ears open... LISTEN then act...
