That backrest looks much more comfortable than the ones you usually get fitted to topboxes.

Very nice you turned your hand to make a backrest, i would prefer a top box and back rest then you have more room for luggage. I have a tiger 1200 rally pro and added a wind deflector on screen only to find it created turbulence and when off the stock screen is perfect. Clean air is better.

Good stuff! We met at Bala a few weeks back, I was on my '17 Rallye which you sat on. It must have left a good impression! Look forward to hearing about your Sardinia trip. Mike.

Hi Mike, thanks for watching. Yes, it certainly did. I sought out a Rallye as soon as we got home and we're both really pleased with it. I hope you enjoy my channel.

Great video again and nice work on the mods,I would be tempted to put a couple of triangular shaped webs or a bird's beak shaped bracket bridging the radius of the back rest bracket for strength. A simple job for you I think, and having come this far with the back rest construction. Cheers

I'd love to see those backrests mass-produced and you earn a nice royalty for each one made. Neat job!

I have a Ducati Multistrada V2S 2023. The frontal noise is horrific! I put on a "sport" windscreen around the same height as yours after trying five or six "touring" screens. This is by far the best for around town and I enjoy the bike much more. I am able to handle the tall bike much easier because visibility (or sense of the bike) is clean and unobstructed. Modern helmets are designed to pass through clean air. The cumbersome tall windscreens upset the clean flow over any of my helmets. I have determined from this dreadful experience with noise and buffeting that I am a naked, clean air guy:-)!

Nice video! Where did you buy the backrest. I am about to make one for my k1200. Have a top box but think one like this will give a little more comfort and relaxed seating position.
@stranobikes
@stranobikes 7 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. I fabricated the seat back from 6mm aluminium plate. My wife can confirm it is the most comfortable back rest she's ever leaned against.

Hi. I understand that you fabricated the backrest yourself. 😊. Just wondering where you bought the particular backrest pad. I have constructed engine mount for boat motors and other mounts from thick aluminium.
@stranobikes
@stranobikes 7 ай бұрын
@@damgrenful The actual backrest pad was from Triumph. We previously had a T120 Bonneville and bought the pad to go with the mount for that bike. I removed it from the T120 before selling it.

What wrong with top box? You can get either the metal version with back rest or vario version which again you get with back rest. I agree totally regarding the screen, I need to reduce mine due to turbulence, I gone pretty large but just cannot get my head in still air. Regarding your back rest, with current design you are unable to secure anything to the rack. I realise in real would the 10 kilos weight limit is very restrictive. Good video I am enjoying your channel.

Thanks for watching. My video linked to this one at the end explains my views and the drawback of top boxes, particularly for the pillion.

Is the back rest sturdy enough to take the lean weight, does it flex?
@stranobikes
@stranobikes Жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. The back rest bracket is made from 6mm aluminium plate. I'm expecting it to flex slightly (as a chair would) but I doubt it will bend. My wife weighs 62kgs, which is far less than the effort required to bend it. Having tailored the fit exactly to her sitting position she expects it to be the most comfortable we've used.

I bought one a few years ago because of the hype "the worst thing I ever did" Parts are a rip off the build is not what you think and it let me down loads of times so good luck my friend looking forward to the stories !!
