When I set off for a ride I enthusiastically wave to fellow riders but after about half an hour of doing it i'm totally fed up with it!! Probably due to lack of response so I usually wait for someone to wave at me and then I will respond.

Had the same issue and Rade garage provided me with a replacement no problem. I cut the bolt down as you did. So far no problem - no leaks.

Not always convenient/safe to wave or concentrating on other traffic/road issues are some of the reasons I don’t wave. What about the leg “wave”? Bad neck so not easy to nod?
@garybrunette9645
@garybrunette9645 3 күн бұрын
I like the waving tradition and always do so when I can. But sometimes you just miss another rider, either because you've been deep in thought or he just came around a corner. I don't sweat those misses and I just assume that someone who doesn't wave back was preoccupied or surprised.

An interesting Q & A session.. i enjoy your natural style/practical info and the just do it attitude (safely!).. lovely part of France..in 2005 I toured SW area on a pre-vtec VFR800..based in Melle… fabulous roads in the region across to La Rochelle, Cognac etc. I’ve never done trail riding..similar age to you and it is tempting…I’m looking at a fly ride tour in Morocco at present…we will see. What is the reason for the eight hour gearbox oil change?.... it's probably obvious,...I can take any sarcasm!!
@stranobikes
@stranobikes 11 күн бұрын
Thanks for watching. The user manual recommends a gearbox oil change every 10 hours. The bike has an hour counter so it's easy to see when this is due. The bike is a two-stroke so no engine oil but the gearbox has a separate oil reservoir.

My view is that there are actually 4 aspects to the riding when touring; you, the bike, the road and the scenery. The scenery is the biggest part that will make your lifetime's memories - also known as 'life experience'.

I absolutely agree with you on the weight of motorcycles now! The weight has gotten totally out of hand in the last few decades to the point where one is judged by the weight of a motorcycle and the cc's only. In Osaka, where I am half the year, I have a SupeCub 125 Honda that absolutely screams around town! I wouldn't want to go any faster on any motorcycle. It's a great city bike that is not slow by any means. How can a 125 cc bike be so fast? Because it is extremely lightweight handling like a bicycle. I can walk it down the sidewalk if need be.

Its a great bike, I got mine in 2019 and have best. Best is the engine and the range, can do 220-240km on mine before gas refil What I dont like so much is the heat (very hot) from the muffler and the handguards as stock.

Why has no one talked about this before, I would go one step further, take your wife/GF. There is nothing better for bringing a couple together and its safer with two sets of eyes. A few years back we bought a Vespa GTS 125 in north Norfolk and rode it back to our house in central Portugal...with the missus. You have the right attitude to biking and life. We have bikes and a small campervan and tour on two and four wheels, last year is was Greece and Turkey and like you went to the Red Sea in Bulgaria. I am 72 now and life is short, too short to stay home, even when that home is lovely Portugal.

I ride solo 98% of the time. "retired" amateur roadracer, so most are too slow.. but some are too fast for my taste. I like Ienatsch's "The Pace", but make it a quick one. IBA member, so endurance is higher than average. If I'm out to really ride, it's solo. Everything else is "socializing with motorcycles".

A few years back I did a solo ride that was 80 days / ~ 43,000 km. There are 65 capital cities in Canada and the USA and my goal was to see 63 of them. (Exclude Honalulu & Iqaluit). I missed Juneau due to a rock slide that blocked the one road access so I reached 62 of them. The longest single day ride was 16+ hours / 1180 km - Whitehorse to Hazelton, BC, on the way to Victoria, BC. I always knew what my next destination was but how I got there was seldom planned ahead of time so I could never make a motel reservation. The other long solo trip was in western Europe - 70 days / ~ 24,000 km. I visited 17 countries. The only specific places I wanted to visit were some of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission cemetaries, particularly the one at Ortona. (It was 70th anniversary of the end of WW II. ) Again I never knew where I was going to stop for the night. Riding solo permits a great deal of flexibility on the roure and schedule. I recommend it highly.

I have had 4 x Rade tank failures. They claim to have fixed the problem with where the metal joins to the plastic but if yours have failed in the last few weeks, I don't hold any hope for mine.
@stranobikes
@stranobikes 3 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. That's not good because conceptually the auxiliary tanks are a great idea. I emailed Rade Garage after examining the tank in some detail and this was what I sent them 'I have examined the banjo bolt insert and it seems to me that perhaps the banjo bolt is too long OR the hole drilled in the plastic tank is too small OR the metal insert is not located exactly in the centre of the hole in the plastic tank, if indeed the hole IS the correct size. Whichever is the problem the banjo bolt, when inserted and tightened, is going too far into the tank and pressing onto the plastic of the tank where the hole has been drilled. On my tank it looked to me as if the tank plastic was slightly over the threaded hole and this may/would result in the bond being compromised when fitting and tightening the banjo bolt. It would seem to me that the hole should be bigger than the threaded insert and then the banjo bolt would only engage with the threaded metal insert.' Rade Garage have responded and they are examining tanks to see if my conclusion is valid. I've asked them to keep me in the loop.
