Bought my 08 128i with 50,000 miles, now she clocks in at 179,000. My favorite daily ever, hands down. Surprisingly usable as well, mine will gladly carve through mountain roads with 2 kayaks on the rack, two people, and full of gear. Love it.

@@KNS_Racing I got the bmw roof bars and a pair of the "J" style kayak holders. I had to dremel the J hooks base slightly to fit the bmw bars to my liking. The bmw racks mount super easy, I can go from slick top to kayaks ready in 15 minutes. Racks ordered from bavauto, j hooks from bass pro, maybe dicks sports.

Just bought an 11 128i Vert last December with 160k, 10k miles later it’s the most fun car I’ve ever driven, and even the vert has a surprising amount of trunk space! Been extremely reliable, been learning how to diy on it and it’s very beginner friendly for maintenance, best thing I’ve done was a set of rear bilstein b-6 shocks, transformed the car, she just glues to the ground.

Approx 10-15 hours labour) - Replaced all shocks (stock shocks were blown and leaking) I'm sure there's other things I've missed.

I put a little over 90k on a 2013 128i that I bought CPO with under 5k on it. It was the only car I have ever been truly a bit bummed to part with, but I traded it in on a 2011 IS F with less than 13k miles. I'm sure you'll all forgive me. I did VANOS ~80k. That was about it. This is also the end of naturally aspirated "old school" BMW's imo. A drivers car.

Has anyone driven one of these as well as a E85 Z4 that can compare driving feel? Both with 3 liter and 6 speed specifically
@drippywips Жыл бұрын
I own both lol. 2006 z4 3.0 Si And I prefer the 128i. it feels less powerful compared to a z4 but it fells more we’ll balance in comparison. The z4 feels like the back end wants to break traction during hard Corning when the 1er feels more well planted. But it is slower
@jackdoesplayyt1718 Жыл бұрын
I have a 128i convertible and Z4 3.0si, both 6-speed. The 128 is a comfy softer daily that handles pretty well. The Z4 is more raw and handles like a true sports car. It’s also a lot lower and about 300lbs lighter. The 30 extra hp make a big difference, too. It’s quite a bit faster. If it’s a daily, get the 128. If it’s a 2nd car or toy, get the Z4. BTW, the 128 also seats 4. Had my wife and two kids with me just last weekend for ice cream. On the convertible note, the Z4 is far less complex (soft top) and goes down in about 1/2 the time.

Nah. If you don’t got money to do regular maintenance. Oil/gaskets/sensors. you’ll have a broken down car in 4 to 5 months. Bmws are cars that have to be driven or they will break down. These cars are hella dependable but they eat oil. So always have some extra oil in your garage to top off once every few months, also you should replace the camshaft inlet sensor when you can as the oem one is trash. And replace the water pump at 100k the one in the car is only rated for about 100k miles before it fails
