I am really debating on getting one, I want a n55 one since I know and have worked on n54 for a while lol, so I know how they are. I am really debating on either a manual 135i or a DCT one, really torn on it. I have a manual e82 128i and really like banging gears but man, that DCT sounds lovely! AHHH!!!! lmao

i was the same, i went in wanting manual only but the more i learnt about the dct the more it seemed to match what the car is best at (mid-high speed cornering), as in my opinion its so short and snappy that low speed silly stuff is a bit dangerous compared to a 3 series or larger chassis, know what i mean? I get my manual time in with my golf now and having the two transmissions is a liberating feeling, sometimes i want some slow speed gear crunching in the golf, other times i want to enjoy the smooth and seemingly limitless nature of the n55 dct. Happy to talk to you on this more if you like, i love this topic.

I was in the same boat as you recently picked up a 2011 with DCT I'm a big stick guy but decided to take the chance and I gotta say its a blast especially if you end up flashing it with XHP :) I don't regret it one bit and its an absolute joy to drive.

I have a manual one. careful when purchasing as the synchros are ass and people destroy them. bought the car with a bad first gear synchro unbeknownst to me

how has the car treated you? im looking into one, but nervous about bmw’s reputation of being unreliable. kinda stuck on what trans to get too. DCT is really attractive, but wouldn’t mind owning a manual car one day.

ive only had the car for about 4 months/8,000kms and its been good to me so far, obviously thats a tiny sample size and the motor is brand new which disqualifies it in alot of ways but as for the other components, they seem to have held up very well over the 10 years. The dct is as people say online, a little weird at low speed (0-10km/h) but you can definitely learn to drive with / around that. I personally love the way the dual clutch complements the way the body handles etc but i can also see how a manual box would be great too so it comes down to what kind of person you are really.

It's the factory M-sport exhaust with the valved muffler section. The car is as stock as can be.

I'm not sure if the m sport exhaust would come up in the vin codes anyways at least it's not on mine and I have it

@@himmelhero i think the exhaust option can be checked via vin, i remember seeing the full spec sheet online through a checker for this car before i purchased it

I've been driving it less often lately but it still hasn't had any issues. I might add, the battery has been amazing actually. The cars been parked for sometimes nearly a month at a time and it has not failed once. I thought that was pretty unusual considering it has a dashcam hooked up.

yeah man its stock, however it has the PPK tune from BMW on it, (the previous owner took it in for the update when they released it). not to mention i have a mic sitting less than 2 feet away from the exhaust exit so keep that in mind, its still quiet from inside unless youre really ripping it

Alright update, sold the 128i, was the car really stock? I am looking at getting one!

hand on heart the car was and still is stock. I reccomend the car just as much now as i did when i first picked it up, get one if you enjoyed the 128 to any extent. Dont be afraid of the dct either, just drive it before you buy it. Enjoy

@@OTRKyofte I did! so much fun to drive! The sounds you get shifting at low rpm from 1,2,3,4 is CRAZY! Ima be looking to do rod bearing soon, I mean the car has less than 80k but its a piece of mind you know!

Sounds like it has a MPPK tune eh, according to those burbles. I also have an N55 and it burbles like that...

I have MPPK tune, bigger intercooler, BMS intake, GFB diverter valve, deleted second cat from downpipe, Kies Motorsports N55 Crank Seal Guard and a JB4 with Bluetooth as well. I have just finished rebuilding a later model F series N55 Engine which will be fitted soon. These cars are proper rabid with the DCT that's for sure. Enjoy the drive my friend.
