BMW 2.5 cracked cylinder head repair

Are you still doing this kind of work? I have an Audi 100 2.0TD with a cracked cylinderhead, crack is between prechamber and cooling canal.

I took my cylinder head for a resurface. But they found a crack similar to that. The guy said it won’t be a guaranteed fix but he thinks that it can be fixed. How has this held up? Is it worth having to risk this type of job for around $150? Or am I better off looking for a new head and spend a couple hundred.

I would do it I mean if it doesn’t work you are out 150…. He should be able to pressure test it after getting it fix or take to someone who can before you put it back in

my car was having a crack head. and was welded neatly in the cracked part. and already leveled again. today I just re-installed the head that has been fixed with a new paking head. and I tried to turn the engine but the air bubbles in the radiator still does not run out until I bleding until 30 minutes of air still out. I check on the oil cap there is water vapor. is this still a leak? and is there normal water vapor on the oil lid?

Have you ever done work on diesel heads? Greetings from USA, a bmw 524TD 1985 owner here. I have not pulled the head yet. Compression is still good. But who knows if there are cracks! All your videos are amazing.

Stuart Haight yes we repair diesel heads also. Its about 80% diesel engines in europe :) if you will not reaheat the engine it will last for a long long time. There is no reason to pull the head off.
