I had the same problem exactly ! Can you advise what to do ? My is not in warranty because I bought the 2018 BMW F750GS model from a friend in January this year. It had been in storage for 6 years in his garage since he bought it (a skiiing injury prevented him using motorcycles). It only had 180km when I got it. Now it has 2,100km. THE PROBLEM: Exactly as you described. on a trip last weekend I noticed I could not change the Drive Mode from RAIN. In the car park, I left the LED spot lights on while parked up for 2 hours. Bike would not start. I used jump leads to start it from a van battery. It then showed an Error on screen: ‘Fault in the engine control. Onward journey possible. Ride carefully to next specialist workshop.’ Bike drove like a Honda 50 carrying an elephant ! Took me 90 mins to get home, throttle would not increase revs past 1,800. Max speed 30kh (downhill max 49). A cyclist overtook me! 🚴 Did the jump cause a fault ? It has the original ECU software from 2018 (this could be issue). Can I buy an engine computer adaptor and upgrade the ECU operating system software myself. BMW dealer wants 360€ to do it, including general service. All advice or tips welcome.
@MotoBrit4 ай бұрын
It could just be a software issue. Definitely get a dealer to do a full diagnostic test and to update all the firmware on the bike. That, and a general service should get you back on track. Thanks for the feedback. Good luck.

Yes, a sensor at the grip. Literally in a box unit underneath by your thumb.

Hi, what a nice bike you have! i'm looking for a 750 as well, but I still have doubts between the 750 and 850. Does the 750 have everything you need or are you sometimes disapointed that you didn't buy the 850 instead of the 750?
@MotoBrit Жыл бұрын
No, I've never been disappointed. The 850 is best suited for people at least 5' 11" maybe even 6' plus. I'm 5' 9". When deciding myself, in the showroom, I could only get my toes on the ground either side on the 850. Yes, you can opt for a lower seat adjustment, but that causes other issues. Also, the 850 is for 'mainly' off-road use, whereas the 750 is good for 'occasional' off-road. Which again, has suited me perfectly. I was a bit concerned about moulded wheels over spoked wheels, but they've been fine. I'm very happy with the 750. As for power, I keep up with friends on 1250s no problem. I hope my thoughts help a little. Good luck.

@@MotoBrit That's good to hear! I'm 186cm tall, so maybe a F750gs would be too small for me. I don't know actually. Both, the 750 and 850 are beautifull bikes, but its a shame that the 850 is so much more expensive than a 750.

Point of interest about Sat Nav. I am awaiting delivery of my 2022 F750gs. I had planned to take the Sat Mav cradle and throw it away. BMW has just come out with ConnectRideCradle. Here in Missouri I lane filter like you do on the video. I looked it up and it's not illegal in Missouri (as opposed to places like Texas and Oklahoma), and after riding all over the world I'm used to it. Especially at red lights I move to the front of traffic -- feels safer, since my only two accidents in over a decade were in my car just sitting in traffic stopped when distracted teen drivers plowed into me from behind (I wouldn't want that to happen especially when I'm on a bike). The thing is, drivers here are not used to that and think I'm being a total jerk and budding in front of the line at the red light and so forth. I get honked at and yelled at at least once a day. A minivan the other day even tried to race me on the green light (after yelling at me), which was amusing and not even close. I hope one day they'll get it, like in most of the world and a few states like California.
@MotoBrit2 жыл бұрын
I rode a few US states last summer, mainly Florida, but went up into Georgia and down through Alabama. I filed up between slow traffic as I came into Atlanta, and didn't even think about it until the next day, and then felt a bit bad as I wasn't sure if it was allowed and I'd pissed off loads of people... likely with guns being as it was Georgia!! A few weeks later I was in traffic on the Florida Keys going out on the first Key, and traffic was very slow. I just sat in the heat as there was a fellow biker up ahead doing the same thing, so I assumed it was not allowed. Sucked. But makes no sense for bikes to be sitting in line like that. As you said, especially at lights where joining traffic could arrive too quick and plough into you. It makes much more sense to filter through and then head off first and avoid danger. Thanks for sharing.

Great review, question about this and your current bike you might be able to answer. I have a 2019 750 and find road and rain setting is just too flat especially noticeable two up when riding in traffic or taking away from a standstill. Is the newer bike any better, just the same or worse? Just ordered a new 2022 model although the old supply issue means probably won’t see it until summer at least, cheers👍
@MotoBrit2 жыл бұрын
+SouthWest 6031 ... I suspect it's still the same sluggish response. A lot of people comment negatively on that feature, especially the Rain Mode being very 'flat' as you say, perfect description. I've ridden in heavy rain, in Rain Mode, and felt unsafe when needing to quickly respond away from other vehicles... So I have concluded that whilst the mode does help with slippage prevention around wet corners, it also hinders the frequent requirement for a quick reaction... Conclusion: I'm in Dynamic come rain, shine or hail!! Hope your new bike is not delayed too long. Good luck.

@MotoBrit2 жыл бұрын
+Tom G ... hi Tom, I've been here over 6 years now. I've lived all over the world, and to be honest, Colombia is a little bit of all the things I've liked over the years. Good weather, nice people, cheap to live, nice food, very diverse and no racism ... or rather no fear or tention caused by cultural differces. There's a few niggles with some 1st world pleasures that either haven't caught on here or are not the same, but you learn to live and accept and stay focused on the enormous beauty and potential of the country. I hope to do some more long range biking soon to see many more places on my ever growing list. And to answer your question about cost, if you had a monthly income from investment, work or pension of anything over $2,000 a month, you would live very comfortably anywhere. Even if a third of that was on rent, as you would get a nice stylish city apartment for that, or a big house in the suburbs. It's more expensive up around Cartegena on the coast and in Medellin, which is now a very nice city, but it depends what lifestyle you want. I've got other videos posted specific to traveling around Colombia, that might give you an idea also. Many thanks.

Great review! I am considering buying the 750 and I am wondering if I should change to the lower seat or keep the default. I am 1.70 tall, any idea?
@MotoBrit3 жыл бұрын
+Petme... I think you should be ok at 1.70... the only downside I've noticed when riding a lowered seat 750gs is that the foot pegs can catch the road when doing a hard low turn. But it's not a big problem. I rode a friend's bike which had been lowered and that was the only noticable difference. After the first few scrapes on the twisty mountain road, I adjusted accordingly, to not go so fast and low, and it was not a problem. If you're right on your tip toes, then seriously consider a lower seat, but if you can get the balls of your feet on the ground, then that is sufficient in my opinion. Good luck.

+STEREOTURK ... I don't think there's any difference at all between 2021 and 2022 (is that what you meant?) Obviously there's differences between 750 and 1250... but from what I can tell, amongst my riding group (all BMW riders) it's mainly prestige of having the biggest one available, with the maximum amount of gadgets, power and safety features. For me 750 is enough (although 750s are 850's as well... actually 853 to be exact) and on long trips I keep up with the 1250 guys no problem. Both on long straights and twisty mountain roads. They have a better acceleration I noticed from maybe 100kmph to say 160kmph (not tested, just a guess, where I've gone "wow, that was quick" as they shoot past me.) Biggest reason for me on choosing 750, was to have less width and weight for off-road stuff. So all personal preference.

I'm 28and matured not looking for a fast bike. I'm 5'8 and can flat foot this. Sales men said I can put it on rain mode to get the most traction available
@MotoBrit2 жыл бұрын
+Chris Griffin... Hi Chris, the 750 is absolutely fine for a new rider. My advice is ignore the rain mode advice, as it won't take you long to get used to the quick response feel of dynamic or road mode. Just take it easy for the first few hundred miles and get used to handling it around corners, in slow traffic and if course on long straights. It's also good for the riding position, as it's a very upright bike with comfortable seating position. Just take it easy on winding roads where speed can throw you off your ideal cornering line, but once you've got used to handling the weight of the bike, you'll be fine. If you buy a smaller engine bike, you'll only be wanting an upgrade after the first few weeks, so just go for it. Ride safe.
