Very helpful overview of your bike and the accessories - I've just picked up an F750GS in the last couple of months so still in the early days of putting some miles on it and adding a few extras. Thank you!

I did know this. What I DIDN'T know, until I discovered it yesterday, is that you can further tune the suspension for single rider, single rider + luggage, or dual riders. Simply go into that menu and then hold down the suspension button until it changes.
@MotoBritАй бұрын
Yep. It makes a difference. Also raise the bike higher if you need more clearance. Fun to do at traffic lights!

In your video after collecting your bike, you mentioned the BMW dealer said it was due to a faulty sensor. Was this at the throttle handle grip ? , or some other sensor location ? . What I am getting at here is, I want to try cleaning the throttle sensor at the handgrip.
@MotoBrit4 ай бұрын
Yes, a sensor at the grip. Literally in a box unit underneath by your thumb.
@gregoryhaughney4 ай бұрын
Thanks, I will clean the TPS unit this evening and post an update on results. A neighbour has a diagnostic 'OBDI' for BMW bikes so on Thursday evening I will use that to check the exact error code and details.
@gregoryhaughney4 ай бұрын
I had the same problem exactly ! Can you advise what to do ? My is not in warranty because I bought the 2018 BMW F750GS model from a friend in January this year. It had been in storage for 6 years in his garage since he bought it (a skiiing injury prevented him using motorcycles). It only had 180km when I got it. Now it has 2,100km. THE PROBLEM: Exactly as you described. on a trip last weekend I noticed I could not change the Drive Mode from RAIN. In the car park, I left the LED spot lights on while parked up for 2 hours. Bike would not start. I used jump leads to start it from a van battery. It then showed an Error on screen: ‘Fault in the engine control. Onward journey possible. Ride carefully to next specialist workshop.’ Bike drove like a Honda 50 carrying an elephant ! Took me 90 mins to get home, throttle would not increase revs past 1,800. Max speed 30kh (downhill max 49). A cyclist overtook me! 🚴 Did the jump cause a fault ? It has the original ECU software from 2018 (this could be issue). Can I buy an engine computer adaptor and upgrade the ECU operating system software myself. BMW dealer wants 360€ to do it, including general service. All advice or tips welcome.
@MotoBrit4 ай бұрын
It could just be a software issue. Definitely get a dealer to do a full diagnostic test and to update all the firmware on the bike. That, and a general service should get you back on track. Thanks for the feedback. Good luck.

Why do you have two maps going? I'm getting an 800GS with the mount but not sure if I should bother with the GPS unit. Is navigation pretty bad on it or something?
@MotoBrit5 ай бұрын
I bought the Garmin, fitted it, but preferred using my phone. The main reason was syncing music, navigation and conversation through my Cardo helmet comms. It just works better via my phone, as music will fade out when the nav gives directions, and also when speaking. But I never took the Garmin off, still haven't , just incase I ever need it.

This is all in the bikes manual. If an owner needs this video then he is foolish for not reading the manual.

Hello moto Brit, could you give a realistic fuel range on that 750gs. Thanks!
@MotoBrit5 ай бұрын
Yes sure. I'd say on average about 300km. Whatever that is in miles. About 180 miles. This could vary, and does, depending on the speed. But that's a safe average in my experience.

Hi. I want to ask all 750gs owners here if you have a problem engaging 2nd gear from 1st to 2nd with the use of the clutch and with the quick shifter. On mine all gears engage really smooth with no effort but 1st to 2nd is just a nightmare and brings the joy of riding down.
@MotoBrit8 ай бұрын
I had a similar issue going from 1st to neutral and 2nd to neutral at traffic lights. I mentioned it in my service and they smoothed it out on the diagnostics computer. I assumed it was something electronic rather than mechanical, so maybe yours is the same. Worth checking and asking each time you have a service so they can reset whatever it is they tweak.

I would be very interested to hear your experience.

Wow. Yes, you might prefer a 1200 if you're going that far and wide with 2+luggage. I've done short trips with my wife. But I would want a bigger bike if it was 2 of us all the time. Good luck, sounds awesome.

Apparently, the 750gs is just a detuned 850gs? A simple remap beings the power up massively apparently ?
@MotoBrit8 ай бұрын
Yes, more or less. It's no secret that BMW made the same bike for two different purposes, the 750 for on-road, and the 850 for off-road. Exact same engine, just some small mods with suspension and a few features. That's what happens when you let the marketing team walk through the factory!
@peterrick33398 ай бұрын
You have a beautiful riding environment. Envious. What is the brand of lower crash bars have you fitted please. I like their shape & positioning. Thank You
@MotoBrit8 ай бұрын
Thank you. They are the BMW branded bars. I wasted money by buying cheaper ones at first, only to find the alignment to be slightly off, and poor quality. Sometimes you just have to pay top dollar to ensure you only pay once. All the best.
@peterrick33398 ай бұрын
You keep referring to this changing the 'suspension'. Which it does, but only changes the damping of the rear shock. The fork settings do not change at all, as there are no adjustments, manual or electronic. :(
@MotoBrit8 ай бұрын
Yes you're quite right, your honor. A worthy point. Terminology is important. I'm sure I've said worse... Oh I have, in the gear shift assist video, I keep calling the throttle the accelerator. Might as well own up to that one. All the best. 👍🏻
@SteveWilson-Hamilton8 ай бұрын
I have the 850 with the Esa, I'm sure the front suspension is adjusted automatically in line with the rear, just under the top of the forks there's a cable to each fork tube, similar to that seen on top of ktm forklegs, I read it stops fork dive etc and squat on the rear, currently in the middle of a 2 up 800 mile trip and I'm quite impressed as is my mate who is pillion around 13 stone.
@peterrick33398 ай бұрын
I'm a bit late for the sound check, but sorry, i don't like the Remus sound. Good weight loss though. I have never heard an after market muffler on a BMW sound better than the original. Including an Akrapovic. I put a Remus on an F800 GT a long time ago and while OK, was not great. Currently riding a 1200 GSA with an Akrapovic, without baffles and it's OK but not as good as the OEM muffler. Might be giving it a bit more oomph though.

Yes, all my buddies have the Akrapovic. In hindsight, I'd probably do the same if I had the choice now.
