lowering the seat does not improve thigh support, it rather reduces it, the bmw's rear seat is just longer - hence the better thigh support.

Bmw has rhe best transmission the gear shifts are so smooth that some reviewers said that they dont even feel the shifts at all.. and a little off the topic question. I really love ur watch Gavim. Can u tell me what model is it. I am also planning to buy a smartwatch

bmw zf transmission is the best transmission in the businesss it is lightning quick. i think your review is in favour of Mercedes benz.its not good. you should watch bmw 320d uk ,Australian reviews they all said that bmws zf transmission is the best transmission.

TRansmission response varies from country to country. Maybe Daimler was able to engineer the 9 GTronic better then the ZF for India. For International markets, both perform equally same.

You are talking about the old 7g and not the new 9g which is available in the C250D. C220d still gets the old 7g.

i agree. To add currently only Merc and JLR are using the 9 speed gearbox and Uk-Aus columns suggest that the Merc has better calibrated the 9 speed ratios but yet its not as quick shifting as the BMW 8 speed ZF. Infotainment and Ride & Handling balance of the Bimmer is better of the two. Merc makes more torque but Performance figures on the BMW are better that also says a lot about the gearing. Merc gets better interior design - but that should not be the only criteria to declare it a winner.

I have driven both cars and I just want to say that the bmw beats the Mercedes in transmission and has a slightly quicker response although since these are entry level sedans I wasn't impressed with the bmws drive experience specifically the suspension...Mercedes beats it there...the bmw is more raunchy you feel the road when u drive Mercedes is quieter and more comfortable. although in this battle I pick the bmw because its more fun to drive.

Being a delhite, BMW is the only choice because of the 'We know what we are doing' 2ltr plus diesel ban by the govt. In this case we can have the entire sedan and mid size SUV range of beemers available in Delhi but Merc on the other hand loses almost all of its range in Delhi now. Sad but true.

I have driven Merc C class 250D, BMW 3 series M sport and the new Jaguar XE.....To my surprise Jaguar XE is the clear winner. More sportier, Superb handling and suspension, good music system, 360 camera, The rear seats appears to have less space but its not coz the seats are longer to give good thigh support. You have to drive one to believe it....its absolutely superb.

In my opinion bmw is way ahead with less hp and 100nm toqrue less still outruns the mb by half of a second. So thish means bmw has sonething that even with less powered engines still is quicker.. And its always been that BMW thumbs up.

the merc here wins hands down. The bmw does have good quality in the interior, but their's is boring and looks outdated for a car of this price. If I am going to spend 40+ lakhs I wound want the car to be classy, young, luxurious, good ride quality, fun and engaging to drive. The merc I think is well balanced in all these aspects, the BMW is still better to drive with good agility, body control 50:50 weight distribution and engaging steering but still falls way back in interiors. I remember when we had gone for a test drive, my wife opened the 320 door and said, I am not going to let us spend 40 lakhs for this. This was after we had test driven the C where she was spell bound. Rear seat of the C is short hence the lesser under thigh support. I think that the lazy design guys at BMW take notice and up the interiors - Two trims : Classy and luxurios like the merc or youthful and futuristic like the i8. Just my opinion, your opinion may differ.
