Wow... Wish I had the patience to do something like this. It cost me $800 to replace 6 ignition coils on my 2011 328i with an independent mechanic, the dealer wanted $1,200.

Ok i learned a lesson the hard way today, DO NOT overtorque the plugs like i did... it will cause wild mis-firing. bmw recommends 18 ft-lbs which is basically just snug plus a hair of pressure

About 20ft lb. I usually just give it a good snug and never had a problem, cause you don’t want to over tight it and it help if you use some high temp anti-seize on the spark plug threads so it be easy to take out next time. You don’t have to use the anti-seize but some people prefer it.

It should come pre-gapped already but it you want to check anyway it be .030” - .033”

Those holes on the flaps of the coil packs are designed for you to put a finger in and pull them out

Yes you can but you don’t want to hurt your finger into that thin metal when pulling the coil pack that is seized.

The Money Filters You can use NGK or Bosch. I use NGK myself! Make sure it’s pre gap spark plugs so you don’t have to do it!

Cylinder 6 and coil be the last one which is the very far back near the firewall.

Only way coil pack goes bad is a cheap coil pack or it’s getting heated up and burnt. Bad spark plugs can cause a coil pack to go bad also.
