I just bought a straight piped 335is and the first thing I did was take it straight to a muffler shop and got some resonators thrown on... My car doesn't sound like a Honda at 2k rpm anymore 😅

It's interesting those little bottle resonators seem to do a lot for sound deadening but the pitch is about the same as it was when it was straight piped. Maybe it was those pipes he ran.

Looks like Vibrants deepened the tone, but those side branches are what really killed the drone....

The first one was the best because you can hear the turbo when reving the engine up and accelerate to be honest

Straight pipe sounds good. But the drone and a rattle that every n54 does after you rev it’s followed by a rasp.

All he needed was a resonator for the drone didn't need the do the whole anti drone piping.

If you still want loudness you do a J-Pipe for drone, But if it's too raspy and drony for your liking you can get a resonator.

@@thatslow4.6 you are so right. Inline resonators can give you the right sound and kill some drone, but it is rare that I've seen them get all the drone.

@@FiveBoroNative most people don't do the math, only way they'll kill all drone is if you do the math, have to know which rpm drone peaks at, pipe needs to be straight across and as early on in the exhuast as you can place it, etc etc

Modding the exhaust generally turns on a CEL especially on German cars. My Jetta has a CEL because of an exhaust cutout

I need help guys my E39 WITH CATLESS HEADERS AND STRAIGHT PIPE ALL THE WAY BACK TO DUAL TIPS wayyy to loud I still want loud AF but it sounds way distorted , I did find some leaks so welded those shut but thinking of a resonator or a muffler and would a cherry bomb GLASSPACK RESONATOR be good

@@jcoach3064 vibrant. I have vibrants on my Elantra N-line turbo. I did a cat back straight pipe and immediately slapped a vibrant bottle style resonator on it. It became too quiet until after it broken it, it was perfect imo. No rasp. Not too loud and no drone. Now since I put a downpipe on it, it's gotten kinda too loud with some drone and a bit of rasp again so I ordered another bottle style resonator. Those vibrants are worth the money despite how much they cost nowadays.
