After checking the last data log i noticed the E92 335i n54 is struggling to meet the boost target. This normally means it will have either a boost leak, faulty boost solenoids or failing turbos. In these video i go through a few steps on how to check each of those.
If you are having trouble tracking down a boost leak or similar issue let us know in the comments below and we will get back to you asap.

When my HPFP was dying, it caused a 1/2 check engine light and MHD would show shadow codes for fuel pressure issues (Only happened if thrashing it and after I installed an MHD Stage 1 Plus tune). I also had long cranks, the logs would often look good, now and then i'd get one where the pressure dropped too low which would then throw the code again. so it did seem intermittent, my car is only one pump gas. The good news is the car starts faster than it ever did since replacing and have had no further issues. My car has an early N55 Engine, which uses the same HPFP, they re designed it later on, annoyingly on the early N55 you can't log the LPFP via software, so it was somewhat a gamble for me replacing the HPFP first.

Ahh tomorrow will be the day I test this. Read it if you like but this is my story lol. Got 335i. Got super happy and loved the thing (Stock). 2 weeks later, I buy MHD package and I see Stage 2+ and I load that without any supporting mods (Car was COMPLETELY bone stock as it gets) and it went hard for ages and loving the thing every day but about a week later, the performance dropped and it was sluggish and I found oil leaking through a small gap in the OEM charge pipe from the underneath. So I decided to epoxy it and it went good again for a while but all suddenly it's dropped off the edge. The car still reaches max boost of 20 but the torque is missing, doesn't feel like a missile, the boost spool time is on the slower side but can't see any boost leaks. So I decided to get a Cobb Charge pipe with stock diverter valves and as being a young guy, I was super excited to fit my first mod and hopefully fix the issue as it was what caused the first problem.. So I spent about 2 hours CAREFULLY replacing the charge pipe and it looked good at the end, but what do you know... The car still felt really sluggish, on the highway and when you put your foot down, it sometimes goes like a bat out of hell and sometimes it's just very meh.. Still today, mhd logs say 20 psi is what it's reaching but it's only getting 490-520nm torque from the previous 740nm torque I use to get... The question is, is that a boost leak causing that torque loss but still has 20 PSI on max load, seems like pressure is escaping but it's still reaching max boost but it just does not feel like it... Hopefully you can shed some light on this, I'm thinking every night going, why the hell did I go straight to stage 2+ not stage 1 first...

Your solenoids could be working but are just “tired” because they’re old. There are hundreds of people struggling with reaching target boost and boost solenoids are the culprit assuming it passes a boost leak test. Good preventive maintenance as well

I had the same problem with that silicone elbow. I didn't realise how big a problem it was until I drove 3 hours to a run what ya brung event. Drove all that way and paid the money to enter only for the elbow to blow off on every run. My solution was to buy a same shape silicone piece that was far longer. Much harder to get on the dam charge pipe and intercooler pipe but once on it couldn't physically pop off

One trick I've done to keep the boots from blowing off under boost is to use cheap hair spray as an adhesive. Clean the boots and pipes then spray the inside of the boot and attach them on the pipes. A lot of diesel guys do this and I've done it with good success.

@ZeroTo60Tube
@ZeroTo60Tube 4 жыл бұрын
Yeah it appears that way. All of the upgrades for the N54 HPFP basically just overdrive the standard pump. So i imagine any of the issues with the stock pumps will still be there anyway. I've ordered a new t clamp. When i thought about it properly, the threads have been dodgy on that clamp for ever. hello good video, my car was running fine but yesterday I changed the pcv valve because I saw that it smelled burnt, I decided to put a new one take advantage and I put new spark plug and bms high flow filters, and surprise when I started the car it didn't sound the same as before it accelerated and obviously less power and it sounded something like lamineo, and the bov doesn't make the typical noise pst!. With your experience, do you think that the new pcv valve that I put in is related to the problem or was it a coincidence that when I changed all this, something was damaged? Your fuel system issues could be ekpm related brotha. When running the car hard, especially with upgraded pumps, the ekpm heats up and causes the symptoms that you’re experiencing. You can code and ekpm 3 to handle the extra voltage of the upgraded lpfp
@ZeroTo60Tube
@ZeroTo60Tube 4 жыл бұрын
I am expecting issues eventually with my EKPM, however i think that is just LPFP, which my actual low pressure is has been above 60 pretty solid. Does the EKPM have any impact on what the HPFP does?
@TrapN54Tv
@TrapN54Tv 4 жыл бұрын
Zero To 60 well an overheating ekpm module will crash the lpfp and will take the hpfp with it. I don’t know enough about your car to tell you definitively if that’s that culprit but it’s worth a shot and you’ll eventually need it coded so why not haha

Hello. I am subscribed to your channel. great videos. I have a question about controlling the wastegates solenoids. I drive an e93 335i DCT myself. I have now replaced my turbos and mounted downpipes. A performance exhaust is also fitted. The problem I have is that in a certain rpm range the vacuum to the wastegates is too little so that they open slightly and there is a very loud sound from the exhaust. The Pwm signal to the solenoids is equal to the vacuum going to the wastegates. I also replaced the solenoids just to be safe. I've asked several questions but no one can answer me. How is the PWM signal determined? Shouldn't the wastegates be kept closed with more vacuum? Do you also have this problem at lower revs?
@ZeroTo60Tube
@ZeroTo60Tube 2 жыл бұрын
To be honest that could be normal. The tunes open the wastegates to flow and close at a point to optimise spool times. No point closing them early cos it will just restrict exhaust flow. I don’t see an issue with what you have described. What are you trying to fix and why?
@mvs3785
@mvs3785 2 жыл бұрын
@@ZeroTo60Tube. Thanks for the answer. The problem is the loud noise in a certain rev range. because I only have the performance rear dampers you get a screaming sound between 1200-1700 tower when you are driving quietly. this is not the case at full throttle. Problem is when I drive through the village people are not happy. This comes when the vacuum is about to drop. Pwm of around 20%. if you give it accelerate , it pushes the wastegates open and you get this sound. Otherwise i have to turn the cats back on. They reduce that sound a bit. Greetings Ivo.

Zero To 60 it could be the CCV system. That‘s often the cause of slime. And it could also explain why the car is seeing boost at low temp- if the ccv isn‘t working properly the intake pressure isn‘t right at idle. Meaning yout MAP is wrong. That could be it in my opinion, dunno if plausible though. Never seen the CCV routing on an n54. But you could look into it :)

Which back end flash are you running? You're setup sounds like a lot of fun. Also what did the coils set you back? Lastly (sorry for the questions, how did you come up with your map 6 settings? Oh actually one more... haha. What boost does your hold at say 6500rpm in 3rd?

Oh?? I think I have the same problem? I'm struggling to hit target boost above 15 psi
@ZeroTo60Tube
@ZeroTo60Tube 4 жыл бұрын
What boost are you targeting through the rpm range? I should add, my car has never held more than 15psi over 6500rpms on the stock turbos.
@SuperHbkforever

That's good to know. I target 18.5 psi. I only ever got that target by 5th gear...most definitely at 90kph...not any faster

Can't lower the level that the new injectors kick in?
@ZeroTo60Tube
@ZeroTo60Tube 4 жыл бұрын
To be honest, i haven't properly looked in to. Maybe i should. Then again i can see the port injection is flowing at 15psi, just not under it. At 6500rpm my stock turbos just dip below 15psi, to be fair i probably wouldn't have this problem with the hybrids as i will be running higher boost all the time and the pi will be working more. Do you think a stock hpfp should handle e70 at this sorts of boost levels?

@@ZeroTo60Tube I'm no expert but from what I have read Ethanol can cause the pump seals to fail and at high mileage I would says yours could be a little worn.

33% more fuel needed on an already taxed system at 19 psi.. It's bound to happen. With such high ethanol %s

That's it! To be fair running full e85 on stock turbos, is a bit redundant. But i want to go through the motions before bolting the hybrids on.

What makes you think there is an issue with the diverter valves? This is quite an old vid, but the car is now running 27psi on stock diverter valves, no problems.

@@luislopez4607 lol. no this was a very old video. The car is now running hybrids, port injection and probably faster than yours :P haha. Jokes aside the thing is a bit of a missile at the moment. But i am still on stock diverter valves. The 100-200 time is 6.1, which should put it at about 600whp.
