Another great review - I've been waiting to hear your views since the launch of the car in November. I was lucky enough to pick one of these up in 420d in December. Awesome car. Makes driving fun again after 3 X3's. The hatch is practical for loading my bike, I've also had snowboards and skis in the back and I recently managed to get all my son's stuff in for a return from uni (desk, computer, 3 monitors, clothes rack, ironing board, suitcases, bedding ... the lot!). Economy is incredible on the diesel; 65.5mpg on a 200 mile drive from Slough back to Leeds of which 19 miles was done without burning any fuel according to the trip computer. Stick it in sport mode and it's a completely different beast. The on board tech is great although my car had the touchscreen deleted due to the global chip shortage but I rarely find that an issue as the iDrive makes everything work well and is less of a distraction. CarPlay works a treat. I got mine in Black Sapphire Metallic with the MSport Pro pack so the grill is all black and IMHO looks fantastic. I also added Comfort Plus which I'd thoroughly recommend for the electric seats with lumbar and Comfort Access has turned out to be much more useful than I expected. I was amazed to get mine within 7 weeks of ordering (people are waiting 9-12 months for 3 series!), I saved £3500 on list price and got BMW financing at 2.9%. Of course I won't be feeling so smug if diesel supplies dry up and I'm left with a very expensive ornament on my driveway.

Absolutely brilliant review, you have more knowledge then the sales person in the showroom I met today. I would like your advice, I really like the sanmero green however they didn't offer that in the m sport pro edition, in your opinion is the pro edition much better then the m sport pro pack. Your advice would be appreciated

Glad to hear the refinement has improved - I have a 2019 F36 and it’s far from comfortable or refined (though I do enjoy driving it). That model in that colour is stunning, despite the gaping nostrils.

The B58 six in the M440i is single turbo, not twin turbo. Epic engine though. Have it in my M340i xDrive. Love it. The door cards are different in the 4 compared to the 3, too. HK speaker tweeters on the A pillar on the 4, for example.

Looking to buy a 440d at the moment - prefer a 2 door but not against a 4 door. Finding the right specified car with the must-have adaptive cruise control is difficult. Brooklyn Grey, Cognac leather combo is very rare!

it is a bmw and you spent more time on anchor points in the butt than on driving dynamics. Heard it is a double wishbone in front what would make it outstanding in terms of bmw model range and competition.

Bmw, audi uses plastic with o ring hoses that click in while subaru use thick rubber hoses with clamps make them durable probably last for 20 yrs or more before replacing a new hose.
