10 years ago the 328 coupe offered a 3.0L 6 and put out a measly 230hp and 200ft-lbs, today's 4 banger besides being a lighter engine and better fuel economy gives you an extra 25/95 over an engine that is 50% larger. Maybe you got spoiled by driving EV's or high output cars but 0-60 under 6sec is quite respectable, but for today's congested roads and high price of gas, it is more than adequate for 90% of the population. I have C300 wagon with 255/273 and it is plenty quick for what it is, way more peppy than my previous W203 and W204 with a 6cyl. Would I prefer the C43, of course but not at the +$15,000 premium and added fuel cost. Though some of the extra cost items for the BMW 430 are crazy expensive

BMWs have got very heavy of late! Sure, ever increasing equipment levels and safety regs inevitably add weight to all cars, but still I would've expected BMW to control the weights of its cars better! As regards to the grille, I like it! I think it makes the car's looks more purposeful and sporty.

Totally agree. I’m often impressed with how well Porsche can keep the weight of their sports cars in check so it can be done. That initial acceleration demo was the most anticlimactic thing I’ve seen on yt in awhile 🤣

Could the manual seats be because of the current microchip shortages? Some manufacturers are cutting features left and right to deliver cars to clients as soon as possible instead of having half completed cars rotting away in various lots. Excellent work, M.

I don't understand why BMW ever implemented a 2.0T instead of developing a successor to the N52. Fuel economy on those naturally aspirated 6 cylinders is still great and it would feel a lot more premium. 2.0T should be reserved for front wheel drive "hot" economy cars. 255HP from a turbo 4 does not feel like 255 HP from a naturally aspirated inline 6. The death of the 330i is what killed enthusiasts from looking at BMW as the drivers brand. Honest to god, I prefer a TRD Camry over a modern 330
@jareknowak87122 жыл бұрын
2.0T will use less fuel than 3,0 - no question about it. Its also lighter, cheaper to produce and service. Car still does 0-60 in less than 6 sec. Most of the people who buy this version wont feel the difference. Usually 4 cylinder engines were the base in BMW, nothing has changed here. You can still buy inline 6, just like in the good old days. FWD Toyota is more a car for enthusiasts than a BMW? To be clear, I love 6 cylinder engines (but Vs) and I am not a fan of BMW.
@avery45282 жыл бұрын
@@jareknowak8712 That's called a 320i and there's no shame in that. I'll be sticking to the manual transmission naturally aspirated inline 6 engines.The issue is that BMW put a more aggressive tune on a 320i and called it a 328i and 330i for the F30 generation. It's just a shame BMW doesn't make 'em anymore. If BMW called the tuned 320i a 325i and kept a naturally aspirated six cylinder in the line up as the classic 30i series model with a manual transmission option I would have bought one this generation. There's a reason Albert Biermann left after the 1 series. BMW engineers don't have input like they used to. It's all about bean counters appealing to a more ignorant class of buyer.

@wintermagebarthow84812 жыл бұрын
Displacement matters. Yes, you can push a heavy car around with an overworked small turbo engine. But in the long run, increased heat, pressure and stress will prematurely weaken engine components. Engines should outlast the rest of the car, not fall apart in 60K, or become a service nightmare, like most BMW 's kept beyond warranty (or for the second owner). Planned obsolescence is at work here.
@jareknowak87122 жыл бұрын
@@wintermagebarthow8481 Yes, in Europe we do size differently. Turbo engines have been used here for years.
