BMW 5 Series F10 520 530 535 M5 Water Leak Passenger Side Rain

It's the yellow grommet in f10 and it needs to be replaced but if you can divert water away all the better. I had the f10 a few years ago and E60 before that . Didn't have many issues then. Now have E70 and so far no leaks and I don't open sunroof to be safe. Bought a E60 LCI and leaks Galore. Wet carpet at back and front. Was driving and noticed bottom of my trousers wet. Thought I stepped in puddle but then noticed water slushing around back to front like a wave ... Seems I'm not very observant. Anyways it's was drain under brake booster. Some came from door barrier. Use Vax carpet washer to suck out and white vinegar to rid smell. Bicarbonate to dry and kill mold. Takes ages to dry don't think it's easy . Why I have an E60 as well as E70 I'm not sure but I was scared of the N57 so M57 I had to have but E60 experience is a little off putting. My 04 E60 didn't have issues

Correct me if I’m wrong but can’t you just leave the cover off to stop the water from building up behind it? I’ve just taken the cover off and it started raining and I could see water just running down missing the grommet

Exactly that mate ! Cover only help that water collect there !! What is a point of that cover ? I will also put not put cover back ! Please let me know if you have any feedback about that ?

How are you finding it 5months on? Did you need the cover, or did the new grommet fix it

It's for sound and heat insulation. On the other side of the yellow grommet is your inferior. Just an absolute shit design!!! Should be a recall!!

I've had this issue. I had the yellow grommit changed. No fix Door card was okay too. I have up until I had to replace my windscreen (chip). The Windscreen fitter checked the seal and bingo there was a 2 huge gaps. Once he fitted the windscreen I've never had the issue. Worth checking to see if your windscreen is the original BMW one or it's been replaced.

you are better replacing the yellow grommet along with drilling the hole, cost is £20 for grommet from BMW , and a few skinned knuckles!!!

Leave the cover off after too , just holds water

Yes mate ! What is a point of that cover ??? Just collect a water ?! I also have a plan to take off that cover..

I am dealing with the same problem i guess mine is the yellow grommet as well. I am really starting to hate BMW always small annoying bits going wrong that is a common fault or know problem that you dont know about till it happens and it happens a lot really starting to regret buying one now.

I believe I've got the same issue too .People say door seals but I've read a lot about this and when I pulled out the front passenger trimming by the door and moved the carpet a little I could see a puddle down the side .attempting to sort it out this weekend

@@crashleyt I just got mine sorted yesterday and it was the yellow seal being blocked and rotting away had 2 hand full of black crap blocking it and the front does not get as wet as their is a polystyrene block for some reason raising the carpet so all the water goes to the rear carpet. But i did mine myself was not to hard just did what in vid and mine was a bit worn on the yellow seal but dont have the cash right now to buy a new one so i use like half a tube of sealant and went to town on it in the front and back of the yellow gromit so no water will even get in again. I now have the long waiting game of drying the carpet out now i used a wet and dry vac to get most of it out but still is wet and i put the heaters on full to footwell it is going to take some time i just hope it does not go mouldy and get that musty smell.

@@crashleyt Oh and you can tell if it is a door seal as the door will be soaked and dripping mine was not and people told me the same thing was the doors when it was not.

@@markdurbridge3059 Am not sure it must be there for a reason my be to stop heat of the engine from melting the yellow gromit am not sure i left mine on but only screw the top screw back on so i can lift the bottom of it a small bit to check if water is in there again. I seen some others that drill a hole or few of them in the black cove that cove's it up in engine bay so water always finds a way out if it blocks up again i might do that next as i will check it in next 8 months to a year to see how it holding up.

Mate how did u lift up the rear carpet to take the water out? Care to list the steps please. I just don't wanna break anything.

I use a rug doctor to suck the water out the carpets.

sorry missed this, i just took it to local petrol station and used vaccum to suck at much out as possible then used electric heater to dry it. Never had issue again after this little fix
